HELP!! car revs when lights go on
whe i step on the break, turn on the lights or the fan goes on the revs go up slightly. they usually sit at like 550rpm and when it revs it goes below 2k
is this normal?

bad altenator??? you mean it jumps up to 2k when you hit the brakes etc. then check altenator fuses then the altenator

i also had the same problem with my 91 Si hatch with the b16a1 swap i was told it could be my ground and i purchased the aem full ground kit (cheap and readily available) and that fixed my problem but i would check the fuses like the guy above me said first thats a little cheaper fix than mine if thats what your problem is also when i was driving and hit 3rd. gear vtec the headlights would compleatly shut off and i had to turn them off and back on.... hope this helps

yes there is also a fuse panel under the hood near the passenger side shock. inside of this panel is the ELD (electric load detector), its function is to bump up/ adjust your idle to account for increased load (AC/accesories /lights).
either the ELD is bad or the alternator.
I hear that in order to replace the ELD you need to replace the fuse panel, its built in or something.

Your right that EF's (jdm) dont have ELD's, but all ED's do (Usdm)
The manual lists the ELD as usa only

so ima start by checking the regular alternator fuse, then the ELD, i know how to tell if a regular fuse is bad. do i check the ELD the same way. im going to check the alternator they do it for free at my local kragen. thanks
