Default heater core replacement

ok so i'm trying to replace my heater core and i'm having trouble getting the black box out to get to the heater core itself. anyone know any tricks or anything? let me know asap

It's a pain! I believe you have to take a good part of the dash out. If I recall, there are a couple of bolts that also hold the core to the firewall.

Removing the dash isn't too bad as long as you take your time.

yeah i got the dash out but i'm having trouble getting the heating element out to get to the heater core. it jiggles around like crazy but when i go to pull it it's like there one bolt holding it in from the back and i can't seem to find it

There are two bolts in the cabin of the car and one on the backside in the engine bay. Once you get the engine bay bolt out it will come right out and you can slide the heater core down and out of the black case. Then slide a new one in and do everything in reverse.

i took the nut off from inside the engine bay and now starts to come out but the box that holds the cabin air filter and the blower motor is catchin it and the steel pipe is too. i've taken all the bolts off the pipe but it won't come all the way out

Sorry I guess I didnt clarify that. You must remove the bands that hold the blower motor/AC in and then remove those components first. then the heater will come out.

so i gotta take the black box out that's to the right of the heater core then it'll come out? ok i'll do it
