Fan Switch Manual Override

Fan Switch Manual Override
Running into some over heating issues. Anyone know how I can add a manual override? Can I just run a wire through a switch in the dash to ground?

Re: Fan Switch Manual Override
I already have done everything I could including replacing the thermostat, burping and flushing the coolant, the reason I think it's overheating is I'm using a half sized aluminum radiator because I had clearance issues with my turbo.
It is an eBay dual core radiator, had anyone else had issues with heating with the half sized radiators?

Re: Fan Switch Manual Override
Because I run one. The OEM fan flows way less CFM and cool tons better than a simple slim fan. The only difference that matters is the shroud. Either get one or try and remount the OEM fan until you decide to.

To answer your original question:
Yes, you can run a wire from the fan switch, to a manual switch in the cabin, and then the other side goes to ground. Just tap into the fan switch power wire, T it off. Keep one going to the fan switch, then the other goes through the firewall, into the cabin to your switch. Run a wire from the other side of the switch to ground.

Re: Fan Switch Manual Override
Thanks everyone, man I LOVE this forum you guys are all amazing help. I replaced the fan with the OEM fan and shroud and it seems to work much better than the slim fan and I still have plenty of room. The OEM fan and shroud seems to cover close to 95% of the radiator surface so I think it will suck air through the core much better than before.
I also ran a wire from the green/yellow wire to a ground switch on my dash so I can manually turn the fan on if needs be. Also FYI, the thermo-triggered switch works still so it does automatically go on at around 220F (According to my GlowShift Temp guage) Oddly enough the stock temp guage only starts climbing to the H when the temperature starts exceeding 240F which I want to avoid, can anyone confirm these temperatures and what optimal temperature/maximum temperatures would be?
So far looks OK, didn't take it out for a long drive but the temperature seemed under control around 200-210F.
QUESTION: Does anyone here know when the thermostat opens at, what temperature? I replaced the thermostat when I had the head off a few days ago just to be safe.

Re: Fan Switch Manual Override
Your thermostat will open at what temperature the manufacturer specified. OEM spec thermostats should begin opening at 78*C (172*F) and be fully open at 90*C (194*F). Aftermarket thermostats usually open quicker (at a lower temperature).
The temperature switch should turn on the fan within the temperature range: 88.5-91.5*C (191-197*F) and cycle off once temperatures drop to within 83.5-86.5*C (182-188*F)
