well im assuming you already purchased a conversion harness right.. That being said when you did so you would either of purchased a obd0 to obd2a, or obd0 to obd2b jumper harness. If you have the obd2a jumper then get a p2p ecu from a 96-97 civic ex. if its obd2b then a 98-01 civic ex.

Re: ECU help with y8 (hotrod99)
i havent done anything just yet just wanna know witch OBD2 is the stock d16y8 ECU and i'll be good with that..
and why is every1 always talking about the jumper harness for the OBD2's... why dont you just get the engine harness for the moter and the ECU for it and your all good right?

Don't bother with a OBD-II and a Y8 ECU. OBD-II sucks *****. Just go OBD-I and use a P28. You'll be able to tune the ecu later on this way.

Re: ECU help with y8 (BuGz32crx32)
Depends what year Y8 you're talking. I'm pretty sure than A went from 96-98 and B from 99-00. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Either way, don't bother running OBD-II. OBD-I is the better choice. Believe me, I did this swap personally a few years ago.

96-97 is 2a, 98+ is 2b. And yea since you say you haven't purchased anything yet then definately get a obd0 to obd1 conversion harness, and run a p28.
and no you dont want to use the engine harness from which your new engine came from. It won't plug into your cars stock firewall engine harness then. When you swap engines you always retain your stock harness, and then attach it to your new motor (with an exception for k-series i believe..) Then the jumper harness allows you to run your new engine with its respective ecu. And in many cases if your upgrading to a sohc or dohc vtec engine, your jumper subharness will give you the needed connections for your new engine such as a 4 wire o2 sensor, knock sensor, vtec solenoid, vtec pressure switch, etc.

Re: ECU help with y8 (BuGz32crx32)
im guessing that your swapping a y8 long block into a crx, if you want to do a easy wiring then run the obd0 pr3 or pw0 (jdm b16 ecu), or you can get the obd0 to obd1 harness and run p28 ecu.

Re: ECU help with y8 (93excivic)
thats not easy as it sounds.. going obd1 u will need obd1 dizzy from 92-95 civic, 4 wire o2 sensor from 95 civic ex, obd1 ecu and obd0-obd1 conversion harness
if u have a 90 civic si why dont u go with the stock ecu? p06 right?

Use your stock alternator.

Re: ECU help with y8 (BuGz32crx32)
Did you use a volt meter to check the alternator's output, while the car is running?
Should be in the 14 volt range with the engine running.
I used an A6 alternator with my Y8 swap and never had a problem.

Absolutely you can. I ran that setup for years. Ran good enough to get me low 15's in the quarter mile, and with no detonation on good gas.

Of course it will, just use your A6 alternator and stock CRX battery.

Eh? Just go to your local parts store and search through all the belts until you find one that works.
Or, switch the pulleys on the alternators. Use the Y8 alt pulley on the A6 alternator, and just use the stock D16Y8 alternator belt.
