DPFI to MPFI conversion and automatic transmission

So I was thinking of perhaps converting my 91 Sedan over from DPFI to MPFI but the problem I have is that my ECU presently is an automatic whereas the 1.6 Si MPFI ecu is for a manual.

Will this make any difference on my conversion? I know I could always try to look for an EX Civic with an auto tranny MPFI engine but I'm up in Canada and the EX model that the US had did NOT exist here (or at least I've never seen).

im not too sure if u have to have an automatic ecu i think if u ran a manual ull throw codes, i do know they make a mpfi ecu for an obd0 automatic, i believe its is a PS9

so what you're saying is that I do not need to get a automatic ecu?

You say that it will throw a code but you're using a pm6 ECU. I'm a bit confused b/c how can a manual tranny si ECU throw a shift solenoid code when there isn't a shift solenoid in a manual tranny.

Just trying to get clarification.

Thanks

I would use a ps9 and get a throttle body from a 90-91 ex sedan. That throttle body is the only one that has the hole to attach the tranny cable to it. Also, you will to zip tie the "safety lock" for the shifter, so you can shift out of park.

What I'd suggest is you go thte extra mile and convert to manual. Its extremely simple (everything bolts up besides the 2 holes you drill), and helps gas milage & power at the wheels even more. I'm getting 10-15% better milage between the obd0 dpfi auto to obd1 mpfi manual - and I'm beating on it too now.

BTW I can see this thread being locked now that there is a For Sale post in in. I'd be curious if a certain Mod would do the unthinkable and edit/delete the FS post rather than lock the entire thread...
