Default D16A1 vs D16A6

I saw a D16A1 in an acura integra LS today and it looked like it was DOHC but I wasn't sure b/c a few other integras had the same engine in them and I figured they all be gone; and I looked at a TON of cars today so I may be mistaken. What I want to know is: what's the difference between the A1 and A6?

a1 < a6 trust me i had both in my rex...very similar...i found more low end torque "honda torque" though on the a1, but the a6 more power and less weight

if i was you i would go with a sohc zc. i've beaten an rsx, and an integra ls. in the past few weeks. after i did the zc swap. its great on bottom and top end performance. this is a website where i bought mine.

http://www.tigerjapanese.com
click on honda/acura then scroll down and go to the second page. all the zc motors they have will be at the top.

How did you get the D16a1 to fit in your CRX? The mounts are all different. The axles wont fit. You can't bolt the D16a6 tranny to the D16a1 motor.

Did you have custom mounts?
Or did you have the JDM DOHC ZC motor that has the correct mounts?

Actually it will bolt to 88-00 trans one bolt is different. Then all you have to make is a driver side mount. Not worth the time and effort though.

I didn't put the engine in, I just saw a couple today and was wondering if it was worth looking into or not.

basically a slightly weird variant of the dohc zc... many many parts are interchangeable between the engines...most parts actually

They bolt right up no mods necessary, That is with a first gen crx. He never said what crx it was in

yeah they bolt right in the 1st gen i have a d16a1 in my 2nd gen crx but the motor was praticually gave to me and it was my 1st swap and i didn't know that much about hondas then. i custom made my drivers side mount and used my si tranny there are two holes that dont line up but it has been going strong for like a year now so expletive it lol. but in my own opinion i would not do it again the d16a1 is a strong little motor for what it is but it does come with a lot of problems and headaces with the mount. so it is possible to put it in but there are many other motors you should look at 1st.
