Icon7 D16 Swap, needing info.

So, right now I have a 1990 Honda Civic DX with a D15 and a 5 Spd, and I was wanting to start a thread to get some info because i have some plans for my little red hatch. I'm wanting to get a D16 for the little car and i know its not gonna be complete cake to do a complete engine swap, but hey, i figure why not talk about it so I can at least get some good info on it. My basic plan right now is to start out by building supporting mods over time until I get a turbo, but from what I've read I'm gonna need to swap to OBD1 if i want the VTEC solenoids to work properly and engage VTEC. I'm not going for astronomical power as its already a light and fairly agile car. I want hub-centric spacer's and a wider tire to fill out the wheel wells a little, but mind you not "JDM Stance Boi" just a clean, straight stance if you get what I'm saying. but i was also wondering how much power a stock 5 spd meant for a D15 can hold, because I've been trying to find out but I can't seem to locate it anywhere. But my ultimate power goal is 200hp, maybe 250hp, So if you all could help me out, perhaps we could discuss what a D16 swap takes. I'm not worried about modding it right out of the gate, just seeing what was required to get it in there and working.

your transmission should be fine for the power goals your shooting for
if you want to make it simple you can use the d16y7 from the 96-00 dx-lx civics its a non vtec motor so you wont have to worry about switching to obd1
you can also get the kinda rare now d16a6 motor that came on the ex and si modals of our cars 88-91
the motors are the same as your d15 so everything well swap over like it was stock
now if your civic is still completely stock then odds are that your still dpfi witch means that your intake manifold is only running with two injectors
you can keep this set up if youd like
but your new 1.6 engine would be alot happier if you used a intake manifold with 4 injectors and to do that you would have to do a mpfi swap
witch is a wiring set up to use 4 injectors instead of just the 2 your useing now

this is the simple way to do what your asking
if you want to know the way so you can have vtec then just ask

I’d really like to have VTEC to be honest, and I was thinking the D16z6 because I’ve heard good things about that engine, and I’ve always wanted that good crossover sound and high revvs. Springs and Retainers would definitely be on the list, as with rods, and pistons, head studs, head gasket, the works. I’d like to overbuild it with strong parts and only run a small amount of power so I could have a fairly reliable, super fun car. But yea, that’s basically my goals for it. No solid engine mounts and a gazillion millimeter turbo. Trying to keep it realistic.
