Re: D15B1 vs. D15B2 (HONDAD15B1)
Nope. Someone must have blew the stock motor or sold what was in there before, and replaced it with the older engine. The D15B1 is found only in 88-91's IIRC.

I'm glad this came up. I have a D15B2 but with DPFI and after rebuilding the engine and having it run like crud I am converting it to MPFI. Also for 159.00 I was going to put new pistons/rings and get an si cam for cheap little bit power.

there are better ways, even on a budget, if you shop around you can get a d16a6 for dirt cheap(100-150), that will be way better than trying to make a d15b1 into a d15b2.....</TD></TR></TABLE>
budget ?when i did my swap i paid 150 for a d16z6 w/ p28 ecu 110 for a dpfi obdo to obd 1 conversion harness a buddy gave a me an old si tranny and the spindles paid about 150 for cv shafts and i bought a engine harness for 100 from a junk yard (it worked but i'll never do that again)
over all i spent around 800 on everything and hell i was satisfied but i think i'm gonna boost it

It's possible, and worth it compared to a d15b1.

Re: D15B1 vs. D15B2
Hi guys,
I have 1990 Civic Hatch (base model) with a seized D15B1. I found a D15B and
a D15B2 on craigslist and I need to know if either of these motors will work.
What is involved in the swap? Thanks.

Re: D15B1 vs. D15B2
yes both will work.
d15b2 is what is in a 88-91 civic standard and they suck ***. I hate DPFI. do an LS swap(b18a1) or a d16a6 from a 91 civic si. (budget Minded)

Re: D15B1 vs. D15B2
Thanks Pheonix,
Do you know if the ECU for the D15B1 will work with the D15B2? The only
differences I could find between the two engines are that the D15B2 has a
different camshaft and no restrictor plate. Thanks again.

Re: D15B1 vs. D15B2
THis thread is all over the place so im going to try and clear some things up.
Alot of people are talking down the idea of doing a d-series swap, but i just finished mine, and i would say it was hella worth it.
I had the d15b1, and swapped to a d15b7 dpfi yes, im still running duel point
But, i kept the intake manifold, and exaust manifold from the d15b1 and put them on the d15b7
Im running it off of a d15b2 ecu, a pm5
Paid 150$ for everything
ANd its a very noticable difference
driving around on 70hp is crappy, and i didn't feel safe merging on the freeway
now, i still got a crappy dpfi d15, but its better than a b1
D15b7 dpfi or d15b2 dpfi > D15b1 all day long
and you can always go mpfi later if you are on a budget, thats what im doing right now

Re: D15B1 vs. D15B2
this makes no sense....
you'd rather swap engines than an intake manifold?
do the mpfi and drive the wheels off the d15, then do whatever you like afterwards because you'll need mpfi before you do anything anyway....

Re: D15B1 vs. D15B2
it does make sense cause why would i waste money on a engine that weak *** **** when for a few hundreds bucks more i can do everything
