crx hesitation and hard starts
so ive owned this crx for about a year now. its a d16y7 swap with pm6 ecu, obd0. When i first bought and still to this day it takes like 3 tries to start it sometimes more. it cranks and cranks so i let off. then crank again and it will turn over but stall right away making a blooop sound in the exhaust. then after that it will usually crank up and start with a throttle tap. Second problem is when accelerating it will hesitate and fall off then come back to normal then fall off all through the rpms. After driving it for about 20 minutes it will clear up mostly but not completely just a slight hesitation at mid rpm. a few weeks ago it started missing and running like a lawnmower so i got a new dizzy and it ran pretty decent but then the hesitating came a few days later. ive also replaced cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter, starter, alternator... still not fixed

Re: crx hesitation and hard starts
i get a cel after its completely warmed up for o2 sensor but i replaced it and it still comes on every once in awhile

Re: crx hesitation and hard starts
Thats the only code? Check your timing also. -Later, BR

Re: crx hesitation and hard starts
yes thats the only code i get, was getting the code for crank sensor but when i replaced the distributor that went away. i tried to get my friend to check the timing but you cant see the marks so he said he couldnt do it

Re: crx hesitation and hard starts
I meant cam timing. -Later, BR

Re: crx hesitation and hard starts
i went to check it by pulling the spark plug and putting a screwdriver in and turning the crank and see if its at tdc, well i couldnt get the plug out because the rubber thing at the bottom of the wire is stuck around it and i cant get it out, also cylinder 1 is all white inside cuz the wire wont go all the way on with the rubber thing stuck on it...

Re: crx hesitation and hard starts
when ever i have problems wit a single cam i swap it,my ole 89 4dr did the same shit and when i replaced all the parts i could and it still ran like shit i replaced the ecu and it was perfect. i never thought my ecu was bad,it took a tow bill and a shop to tell me that

Re: crx hesitation and hard starts
Swap out with known good ecu, then check timing. Whichever you can do first, try it while you're waiting on the second.

Re: crx hesitation and hard starts
i was thinking its the ecu, but with the wiring in this car its hard to troubleshoot anything. i have an ls swap just need a distributor and ecu to finish that but im pretty much broke right now, just trying to keep this thing running till winter

Re: crx hesitation and hard starts
Well you might be able to find someone on H-T near you who'd let you borrow their ECU for 5mins. Or just find one on here and then sell it again, I did that before >.> .

Re: crx hesitation and hard starts
yea i dont no anyone with a civic thats not b series so im out of luck unless i find someone on here

Re: crx hesitation and hard starts
alright so i fixed the hesitation(spark plug wires were f'd up). now the only problem is the hard starts. today i started it when it was still warm and it took awhile and then started and the check engine light stayed on even after shutting it off and starting it again(usually goes away when i do this) it was bogging and all i could smell was gas. then halfway home i shut it off and started it again and it stayed off and ran fine. checked the code now im getting code 1 primary o2 sensor and code 16 fuel injector system. what usually causes this?

Re: crx hesitation and hard starts
Bad wiring. AKA not wiring correctly. Loose connections....etc. Fix your wiring, you mention it was bad earlier. -Later, BR

Re: crx hesitation and hard starts
could it be the main relay? i read that a few different places. ive thought for awhile that it was a fuel problem just not sure what. i dont see how it could be the wiring tho cuz i havent touched anything

Re: crx hesitation and hard starts
