crx with b18 swap checklight cel 6 and 5 codes no thermostat HELP!!
we just completed the swap last week and now im doing final touches. Well theres not thermostat for the fan to hook up to like the old engine where its on the back. I looked at my buddies 94 integra and theres a thermostat were the radiator hose goes but min does not have that. is there anyway i can make it work i think thats the reason im getting code 6. As for code 5 when i drive the car around the block theres alot of white smoke im guessing the timing is off. Where exactly does the timing need to be at zero?

white smoke is water burning in the cyclinder...or your cat and muffler is filled with water from the last engine that might have a blown head gasket. There should be a sensor hook up for the coolant on the thermostat housing.

i know the old engine had some problems it blew a rod. dont know about a headgasket. i think the timing or something else. I cant find it anywhere. i may have to go to the junkyard and see about getting the part like my buddies intergra. Kinda weird. you would have thought there would have been a sensor.

Ok figured out the whole smoking thing, I checked the oil and damn there looked to me a lot. So i pulled the plug and out came about 2 gals/ 8qts. Im guessing what the guy that i got the engine from didnt drain the oil when they pulled the engine. It didnt have a dip stick so i wasnt able to check i asked my buddy and he said he though his cousin drained it but i guess not. Good sign no more smoke and black coming out the exhaust. but now i have a wierd idle up and down adjusting about 500 rpm but im thinking to change the plugs since there was that much oil that could be the problem or vacuum line.
