Default Coolant Temp Sensor

Alright I have used the search engine repeatedly and I could probably tell you the material these things are made of at this point as well as the voltage, resistance and even amperage of the freakin thing... that information is irrelevant to me right now. i Need to know wtf it plugs into.... my car thinks its -30 all the time and it affects the flow of coolant, starting the car, the fuel/air ratio until the car is completely warmed up, and even then it runs too rich. It is a CRX SI with a D16A6 (very well stock). what wiring harness is this attached to. say for example the wiring is missing (stupid people cutting wires before i can buy the car) where would i go about rewiring this delema.

there is also a hose that comes from the intake manifold right above the mentioned temp. sensor, what is this hose? and what does it connect with??

also, a bit off the exact topic but what the fudge is this plug on the rear towards the brake cyl./firewall on the intake manifold.. (fast idle control??). its not long enough to go anywhere that i can find but obviously it needs plugged in to something.

help is appreciated since you cant even PAY people to do decent work, apparently

your engine has 3 coolant temp sensors - one is for the gauge, located on the end of the head below the distributor with one-wire connector (green in the picture below) - one is for the ECU, also located on the end of the head with 2-wire connector (red in the picture below) - one is for the cooling fan, located on the back of the block above the oil filter with 2-wire connector with big black rubber boot (cyan in picture below)

on the back of the intake manifold on driver's side is the Fast Idle Control Valve on the 89-91 Si - the 88 CRX Si doesn't have the FICV

awsome, appreciate it. the mentioned sensors are all hooked up, but there is one sensor where the bottom line from the radiator makes its first connection... a 2 pin (looks like temp) sensor... what does this get plugged to? and is there a way to make the fast idle control valve work or should it be blocked off or what

FICV has 2-wire connector with one Black/Yellow wire and one Blue wire - the Black/Yellow is power and can be spliced into the Black/Yellow at the EACV - the Blue wire goes to ECU pin B2

is your engine a D16A6? the OBD1 engines like D16Z6 have the cooling fan switch on the thermostat housing (where the bottom radiator hose connects) instead of on the back of the block like the D16A6 - it looks basically like the 2-wire sensor on the end of the head

hell yea, thanks.
the extra sensor is on/in the thermostat housing. standing at the passenger fender and looking in just towards the fender where the intake manifold and the block connect, there is a open 2 pin sensor plug staring its ugly self at me with no wiring to match... fans work though. perhaps some jerk crossed my obd0 d16a6 and some 0bd+ z6/y8 parts? being all d series 1.6s and all... i rekon ill just have to replace that proper like.. and for the ficv, what impact does it have or what does it do?

props to jlicrx

Modified by ModelXRacer at 12:59 PM 5/13/2007</TD></TR></TABLE>yeah, someone probably put a different thermostat housing on it - the FICV only works when the ambient air temperature is below -10C or 14F (probably doesn't happen often in Greensboro) - it just boosts the idle slightly in extremely cold temperatures

that goes to the throttle body which then goes to the iacv then back under the manifold

Is there anyone that's has pictures where to connect this coolant sensor.. I can't seem to find where it goes been under the car looked behind the block.. I'm so lost I don't want to run my engine because I'm scared it may over heat. Or I will not be able to tell if it's to hit... I have the d16a6 thanx
