code 17 vss
i've got engine code 17 and i was just wondering if it's affecting my vtec? 89 civic, b16, pr3, jdm cluster and eg electronic vss. should i be using a dc electronic vss or is the eg ok? the speedo on the cluster is still working.

Re: code 17 vss (irtep)
The EG VSS is fine. you have a problem in the wire that goes from the back of the cluster to the ECU. Begin by making sure this screw is nice and tight at the back of the cluster.
then make sure you have continuity from the cluster to the ECU.
If your speedo works, then the problem is the wire from the cluster to the ECU.

You are correct. If using a VTEC ecu, you need to be above 10mph for activation, and if the ecu does not see the vss then it cant tell that it is going through the speed threshold.
