Re: DOHC VTEC head swap (macjr)
im not sure exaclty what the engine ID is.. but its basicly a D series bottom end, wiht a LS non vtec head.
they were outside of the US.. mainly japan. do a ZC search.. ALOT of poeple have tem in CRX's.. its a straight swap.. no new mounts.. same tranny, linkage.. ECU.. just longblock.. mainly new engine with 2 cams.. can't beat it.

nope, can't do that either! DOHC ZC heads only fit DOHC ZC blocks
If you're stuck on keeping the D15 bottom end, then a D16Z6 head is about the best one to use (SOHC VTEC) Do a search for "mini me" and you'll get info on this setup.
If you want DOHC VTEC, then you'll need to swap the entire engine.

about what i was saying that ZC swap is increadably cheap.. i think the long block is like 5 bills, and thats all you need. no mounts, linkage, axels, ECU.. everything changes over.
but yes the ZC block is one of a kind.. but now.. dual and single cam heads, and blocks do not interchange.
however.. "minime" setups can convert, and of course the LS VTEC, and B20 VTEC, can be achived.
