honda crx d16a9 start problems
Hi
I have a honda crx with a d16a9 engine that cant start without diesel start gas. i drives and revs fine when the engine is running, but i can only start it with diesel start gas, even when the engine is hot it ant start without the diesel start gas.. what could the problems be???

Don't listen to him. It only takes 4 things for a motor to turn over. Air, fuel, compression and spark.
Check all 4 of those and report back.

This doesn't make sense. If you don't know what a main relay is or what it looks like, I highly doubt you've confirmed physically that you have all the components needed to start your motor.
Tell me what you did to confirm that you have all 4 while turning the car over.

I have found the Main relay..
Because the engine run fine when the engine is startet. The only problem i have is that i need diesel start to start the engine. When the engine is startet i dont need diesel start to keep it running it runs by its own.

One thing I can say for sure, it's not the main relay. If it was you would also not be getting spark.
I'm also willing to bet no one else on here uses diesel starting fluid on their honda. I'm willing to bet your either not getting fuel on start up (probably a bad fuel pump) or your not making enough compression to get it started. Like 09chaplak said, check the 4 main things you need....start with the two I've mentioned, fuel and compression. GL

That was my thought too.. but it is that same if the car is kold og hot, it cant start up again without diesel start/ether...
what nembers should i see when i take the compression?? cold /hot

Does it smell like gas when you're trying to start it? It should, if not you're not getting fuel. If it does, you are and you're not getting spark, compression or oxygen.
Do you hear clicks when you turn the key? If you do your main relay is functioning
Do you hear the fuel pump priming?
The motor is turning over correct?
Your air filter is not extremely clogged?
Take a spark plug wire out and crank the engine, hold the wire end near one of the valve cover crown bolts, it should arc.
Check all your ground wires and sensors.
Do all these things

It's not the main relay.
More details are needed here.
When you say it doesn't start... does it crank properly? Does it sound like the crank is spinning faster than it used to (assuming you've had the car long enough to know - have you?)?
Have you properly checked the compression, as in each cylinder with a compression test gauge? If so, what were the figures?
Are you able to check fuel pressure?
When you say the car runs and revs ok, please define that further. Are you driving around town, i.e. 30ish mph? Have you pushed it to WOT and did it do this smoothly?
Assuming the car truly runs well, the issue is obviously specific to the start operation. This should drastically narrow the options, because most of the components involved should effect the engine running correctly.
How are you applying this diesel start gas? Directly into the throttle body, as in you are removing the air box and piping from the equation? If so, have you tried starting under the same condition but without added fluid?
How old is the fuel in the car?
