Default a/c gurus questions please read

Ok so I got the ac chagred in my car after finally getting it working.

Well I was driving home and all the sudden it quit working I have no power at the red wire that goes to the ac compressor.

I have power at all the relays just not at the red wire coming out of the relay.

If you jump the presure switch it comes on if you run a hot wire from the battery the clutch kicks on.

I cant figure it out some one please help me. all the fuses are good and all the relays are good because it was working when I took it to get it charged.

The low side is at 40 psi and the highside is at 150 wich is good.

THERMOSTAT, AIR CONDITIONER is bad on my 91 sedan. This is the part# 80430-SF1-003 Img. 031 for $64.53 its on the left side of the EVAPORATOR CASE Img, 013. I just jumped it and it work. But I have not bought the part yet I just don't use my a/c right now & it's out of the car. I think this thing keeps your evaporator from freezing?

Check the back side of the compressor, there is a "pop off valve".
If the system pressue gets to high it will release and all of your refrigrant will be gone. Many of the original compressors have a cover that is held on by three bolts that has to be removed to see this.

I'd take it back to where you got it charged and have them look at it with a black light(assuming they put dye in).

If this valve went out, you'll need it and likely an expansion valve....at least that's what worked on mine.

I know this sounds obvious, but have you checked the fuses?
It seems like the clutch might have gone bad and if it did the resistance goes way up and burns the fuse. Check the condenser fan fuse.
Another thing, 150 psi on the high side is not "good" . It should be near 250 to 275psi and the lower side should be closer to 32 psi.

actually, his those system pressures are normal- though both fluctuate as the system cycles- if you have high side pressures exceeding 250 you have a problem, and 150 is dead normal. low side will typically cycle between 25 and 45psi. so charge is not your problem. you do have a pressure switch in the system- have you tried bypassing that? also- you said you can manually jump the compressor- at your a/c relay, do you have the switch circuit working, but it's just not sending power to the compressor circuit? if that's the case, it's as simple as a bad relay...

Yes I have power at the relay just not coming out of the relay vie single red wire going to a/c compressor.

I have tried 3 other reays and still same problem. I ahve power at the switch because the blue light comes on and off and the idle picks up to compansate for the ac being on but the clutch isnt engaging.

Do yourself a favor. get a new 15 amp fuse and replace the condenser fan fuse.
40 psi on the lowside is on the fringe of being good, and 150 on the high side is on the fringe of being good. Psi = temperature, so what that is telling you is that your evaporator temp is at about 40 degrees and the condenser is a 150 degrees. There is not a big enough temperature differential for your AC to work properly.
If all your connections and fuses are good, try filling the system a bit more to bring up the high side closer to 200~225. And the low side closer to 35. BTW, those readings have to be made at 1500 RPM, never at idle.

Are you sure? Your statement earlier about 150 not being good is false as well. The compressor cycles between 20 and 45 psi on the low side. High side pressure usually relates to about double ambient temp. Not knowing the ambient temperature makes it hard to determine proper high side psi.
If you jump the pressure switch the compressor works? Are you sure on the voltage coming out of the relay?

Both the OP and me live in FL. This week temperatures have been ranging in the 91-92 degree range in the afternoons. 150 psi at the high side at 1500 RPM is low and not conducive to efficient AC operation under those temperatures.
R134a works the same no matter what car it happens to be in.

I have replaced all the fuses and relays with brand new ones from honda and still same problem I have power to the relays just no power coming out of relay going to compressor via single red wire.

It all worked and worked good and all the sudden no power to compressor

If you jump the blue red at the pressure switch the compressor works? You either have a bad pressure switch or low pressure on low side. Could you have a leak? It wasnt working prior to getting it filled? May have to take it back and have them look for a leak w/ dye. If you have gauges check to see if the high and low equalize when off.

It worked when I got it charged all the fuses are good and all the relays are good I have no leaks they did a pressure leak test and when they put it on a deep vacum I had no leaks

The idle goes up and all to comoansate for the ac being on but the clutch doesnt engage
