Re: brake lights don't work anymore please help (filthy_shovel)
both brake lights are out but all taillights work. also the 3rd brake light in the wing is out.
i traced the loom to the dash and it looks ok. now just trying to see where else it goes.
is it possible for the brake trigger on the pedal to be bad...?
thanks for the help

It is either
1. The brake light switch is bad.
2. An electrical connector has come loose.
3. The connectors at the brake lights are corroded.
4. The ground circuit for the brake lights is corroded or disconnected.
5. There is a short or other problem in the wiring.
6. All of the brake light bulbs are burned out (this is unlikely, but possible).
You are going to have to use a test light, fish out the wiring and start testing. Start with the closest from the brake pedal Brake light switch) and move down the rear of your vehicle.

Check the fuse in the main fuse box. The one uder the hood (passanger side). It should be a 15amp fuse marked as HORN, STOP on the fuse cover. I had the same problem a few weeks ago on my CRX and thats what it turned out to be.

i would check the fuse in the pass. side and then the brake switch.. the two most common reasons for all brake lights to go out at once.

Check the brake light switch.
Its right above the brake pedal, looks like a little cylender. If you can, unplug the connector and short the 2 wires together, the lights should come on. If they do, the switch is bad.

kinda wierd that they both went out at the same time, though...
