Default Brake drum won't fit new brake shoes

I bought the Raybestos brake shoes and replaced the old shoes in the rear for my 88 SI. But now the drums won't go in anymore because the brake shoes are in the way. What do I need to do to get the shoes out of the way or do I need to resurface the drums?

Two thoughts.
1: ebrake, cuz of the rear, maybe ur ebrake is on.

2: Can you adjust the star nut to bring the shoes closer together by any chance? SOMETIMES they will be adjusted for the more worn pads, and installing the news ones now the drums dont fit.. Id try those first.

The ebrake was down the whole time during the change. I finally got the drums on by adjusting gear to bring the shoes closer and used some force to push the drums in. Thanks anyways for the help

You may have to back off the adjusting nut at the e-brake handle.
