K24 is good..Expensive though and not really practical for a street car..

Just do a B series swap. GSR or ITR. You will be happy for now, and the aftermarket is there to support it.

never heard of a d16a9

the best motor to put in a rex (power wise)... probably a k20, h23 block/h22 head, turboed gsr, or even a k24. Hell even a spoon gsr or toda powered ls vtec.

but while your already spending close to $10k or better on those setups, you might as well just convert it to rwd and put a 350 small block into it and then you can say you drive a 2300 pound camaro.

b16a - simple swap, it's got enough power to be fun, cheap

dohc zc = easy swap, good hp
b16a= little modding, good in rex but prefer zc
b18b = easy swap, good hp/tq
b18c1-5 = to much for the swap, to little for the power
k20 = alot of mod, worth the swap/money + all the power you need
k24 = rich

Coming from my experiance iv own every B motor and H motor in my crx and have to say i really enjoyed the b18c1 (GSR). Great power and alot of mods out there in the market. Cant go wrong with it. I personally have a h22 crx and love it, but not the daily driver. Just a weekend beater....U can find some cheap motors around,keep your eyes opened

I have a B16 in my crx....i paid 1000 bucks for the whole car w/ swap....its fun and i got mine to run 14.5's ....so a B16 isnt the fastest swap but its pretty cheap and fun....but if you have the money i would probably go with a GSR, if you like speed you wont be happy with the B16 for long.

Get a stock d16a6 slap a d16y8 head on it aka mini-me swap, it will get you around 127 HP and you could go either all motor or turbo depending on what pistons you use.

You would spend a little less than the B16 swap and maintain a factory fit engine. You would have a SOHC with VTEC so best of both worlds. Fun, fast, affordable, reliable and somewhat fuel efficient. It would be a good beginner build.

Just my 0.02 but that is what you are asking.

Good luck

i bought my a6 motor/trans for my HF AND turbo'd it for under the cost of a B16 itself. then you have to add all the little extras like shipping, mounts, clutch, linkage, axles, etc. so in the end the B16 will cost a LOT more than my total investment.

pulling off high 8s, low 9s in the 1/8th is enough to convince me that its worth it.

I like my b18c5, its great if you want a quick NA engine. The problem with it is price and you prob dont want to go turbo with it. When it comes down to engine swap you really need to consider only two things: 1: what do you want to use the car for and 2: money. Both will limit the engine you end up putting in your car

Plus when it comes time to step up the power, there are some many turbo options!!!
