Battery relocating cable usage.
I'm going to relocate my battery in the trunk very shortly but I have a few questions to be sure about. I've done this before and I forgot what I would need to worry about. What size gauge should I use coming from the battery to the distribution block and then what size should the gauge cable should be out from the distribution block to the fuse box and to the starter?
I cant search because it's said they are currently fixing the search engines at the meantime.

We have used 4ga. for smaller batteries that aren't running a system and 2ga. for regular batteries or batteries that will see a high amperage draw to run from the battery to the starter, then 4ga. to run to the alt and fuse block.

go to a welding shop and use welding cable. thats what i'm using on my car, don't know what gauge it is but its some thick *** cable.

Use 0/2 gauge for the battery, 8 gauge fits perfect in the fuse box under the hood.
People say 4 gauge gets too hot if running alot of accessories. Just spend the extra few bucks and be safe. Do it right the first time and you will have no problems. Don't want a fire, do you?

So, I would be using a 0 cable from the battery to the block and then a 8 gauge from the block to the fuse and stater.
Where would I put a inline fuse in between?

It is safer to use a fuse. I used a 150amp fuse that is really for car audio systems. And I used a distribution block also for car audio systems.
I bought all of the materials at my local car audio shop. Just visit your local car audio shop and they'll know exactly what you need.

i have done several of these relocations, everytime i have used 0ga wire from batt to dist block, then like stated before 8ga to the fuse box is a perfect fit, buy some 8ga terminals from autozone there 1.99 for 2, an amp wiring kit is the cheapest way to acquire cable. and i ALWAYS relocate the fuse box under the hood to behind the glove box, i cut out a portion of the glove box (on the back side) and use the piece i cut out to make a cubby so you can still put things in your glove box like registration, chap stock etc.. without it falling in the floor, just a matter of disconnecting wires, pulling them thru the firewall and re connecting them, then that ugly *** box is up and out of the way!

Instead of a fuse, you can use a ciruit breaker. That becomes your on/off switch when you need to work on your car without having to go a disconnect the negative wire. With that said, a fuse is more reliable.
Also, I use 2 gage on mine. 0 gage is huge and everything for 0 gage will be expensive, including terminals and dist. blocks. That's up to you on how safe is safe for you.
Also, when buying dist block, I notice that their wire openings are 1 size over. Another word, a 4 gage input hole on the block can take a 2 gage cable once you remove the wire coating, and it makes a perfect tight fit.

You MUST use a fuse. Not should you...you NEED to.
You need a fuse because it's going to be going through the firewall.
You know what happens if your grommet fails and your cable touches the firewall, or any other metal negative-earth portion of the car???? And it's not fused????

Do you plan on running at a NHRA sanctioned track? If so you have to and I mean have to buy either the JEGS battery box or the Moroso they are the only 2 that are sanctioned, also you will have to install a master kill switch on the outside of your car. I picked up my Jegs kit for 90 and the switch was 20
