Bad battery?
Just replaced my starter today. The car was sitting for a bit so I had to jump it. Pulled it into the garage to charge the battery. Checked the battery and it read like 13.25 ish. Figured it was ok since it ran for a few minutes. Tried to start and just got the starter click, click, click. The tach also went from zero to about 3k when I tried to fire it up.
Guessing the battery may be bad, or its still too low to start the car and it just needs more charge?
thanks

Re: Bad battery?
The battery is four years old. The battery has been on the charger like 2.5 hours. I just went out to try it again and same. Pulled the jumper cables out and it fired right up. I'm guessing the battery just died from being old and the couple weeks it sat.
Off to get a new battery in the morning.

Re: Bad battery?
Another something I'd like to share about my starter install. First off, I have never replaced a starter so I have no idea of the ins and outs, but it seems easy enough.
As I was trying to get the two bolts back in they just didn't seem to go in easy like a honda should. The long bottom one went in fine, but then the top one was at a bit of an angle. Took out the bottom one and tried to get the top one in. All good, so I now try to work on the bottom one again. It just does not line up. I figure I get the bottom one in since its so long, I can wiggle the starter enough to sink the top bolt. NOPE! I am now stumped thinking I am doing something wrong. Pull it out and go get the original and try and put the bolts in to see if they go in the same shitty way. NOPE! They fit easily.
I take the starter back and explain my problem. They get another and we compare them. The original one I had was a bit wider where the bolt holes mount to the block so it did not line up right. I prolly could have drilled it out a bit, but I figured why mess with it.
Wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

Re: Bad battery?
are you tightening down one of the bolts all the way this would cause it not to line up
also this is wired because my 89 dx hatch has a starter from a del sol so i mean idk how much different they really are
