B20 pulley hitting radius rods?
Alright, i have a b20 swap in my 90 civic std and my crankshaft pulley is hitting my radius rods. Is a LS or B16 pulley smaller in diameter? I thought about putting a CTR N1 pulley on but I could probably find a LS or B16 pulley locally. Does anyone know if either of those two pulleys are smaller. I had a b16 in an EF a few years ago and I didnt have these problems but I had hasport mounts and now I am using Avid Racing mounts. Anyone ever had this problem or have any info on this. Thanks in Advance for any help.

Re: B20 pulley hitting radius rods?
I had an issue like this on my nephews swap. I ran a gsr pully with all the acc ribs machined off and just ran the alternator drive pully ribs. Lighter than a gsr pulley and still has the dampening rubber inside.

Re: B20 pulley hitting radius rods?
I had this issue with my b16 swap and there are a few ways to solve it. First buy new motor mounts because more than likely your moor is sagging and that's why it's rubbing and I'd bet money that your bottoming out a lot too. Second you can get a ctr crank pulley or find a local machine shop that will use a lathe to grind down the ribs but make sure they balance it. Third you can go to a local junkyard and find accord radius rods. They have a curve that clears the pulley but I don't know exactly whT year. Good luck.

I dislike the ctr n-1 pulley.

that would most likely negatively affect the geometry of the car

Re: B20 pulley hitting radius rods?
I had the same problem. To solve it I had to buy better mounts. Then make sure you are using the correct bracket from the engine to the mount on the driver side.
I also had to buy new shocks and springs cuz my oem ones were totally gone. |
Re: B20 pulley hitting radius rods?
The thought of buying another mount kit has run through my head also. My old EF didnt have this problem and I used hasport mounts. Avid racing makes decent mounts so I didnt figure I would run into this problem.

Re: B20 pulley hitting radius rods?
it's probably the mounts. I don't have a problem with my mounts but i have read ppl who ran into this problem. I THINK avid might be one for one ( i can't remember!)

Re: B20 pulley hitting radius rods?
Better motor mounts and a B16 pulley will solve your problem, stay away from the LS crank pulley

is you car slammed?

Re: B20 pulley hitting radius rods?
I had this issue with my old Place Racing Mounts. I bought the CTR N1 pully to clear the radius rod.
My Innovative Mounts don't present this problem with their engine placement. |
Re: B20 pulley hitting radius rods?
No the car isnt slammed at all. Its lowered but not even tucking or near tucking the tires. So is the b16 pulley smaller in diameter?
