Default B18A Swap Stiff CV Axle Help

Just before first start up
I was trying to prime and forgot the filter... who can relate?
Hey everyone,

Has anyone ever had this problem with their swap? I bought two new axles (left and right) for my b swap. The left side gave me no issue but the right side is got me scratching my head!

The right side is really stiff. The wheel hardly turns while the left side spins freely. When I get the car in the air and in first gear the left wheel spins no problem but the right is held in place like the brakes were apply! I check to see if anything is caught but came up empty. I don't even know where to begin looking...

i try googling and found some new axle "may" need a break in period. If that's true, won't the left side also be stiff?

Does anyone have any idea where I should being looking? Focus my search so to speak.

I'm sorry if I sound demanding/rushed. The weather is getting nice and I really want to drive me first ever engine rebuild and swap.... hope you all understand.

Anyways, thanks in advance.

Hey,

Yeah I removed metal ring on the knuckle but didn't see anything I could remove on the axle so I just left it as is.

I think I found the problem though. The axles I got came with abs rings on them. When I was installing the axle, I removed everything except for the lower ball joint because I couldn't get it off.... I manage to get the axle in and miss the fact that the lower ball joint were aftermarket and had a grease nipple on it(it was buried under dry grease, dirt, etc). It looks like the abs ring is getting caught up on the nipple... I'll have to try to remove the nipple or the abs ring and see if that free up the binding.

Thanks for the input.... I feed kind of dump for not catching this when installing...

EDIT. Having hell of a time removing the parts. I'm wondering, is it possible to cut the abs ring off or tap it out of the axle?

I used 94-01 integra axles in my swap and I got the ABS rings off by tapping a punch around the ring until it slid off. I suppose you could cut it but it shouldn't be all that difficult to hammer them off.

This(metal axle)
Rubs this(rubber on knuckle)
Hi.

So so looks like the gease nipple isn't the only issue. Looks like the rubber seal in the knuckle is rubbing against the axle. I don't know if the rubber ring need to be removed as well... Or just run it till it wears away(lol)? Any thoughts?

From what I recall, there shouldn't be a rubber seal on the knuckles. Remove that and you should be good to go

The ABS ring is the silver ring with the grooves, that shouldn't get in the way of anything. It's up to you if you want to remove it though.
