b16a new lmas still ticking!

have a jdm b16a in my 91 si and just recently changed to gsr cams and to the new style spring lmas from inlinefour.com and adjusted my valves to .006 intake and .007 on exhaust as by advice from local honda performance shop, but my head still makes a good bit of noise i cwn hear it tick while driving down the road still, the car runs fine and gets taken 8500 rpms occasionally but just checked the clearance again today and its still where i set it. any ideas on wtf could still be making so much noise? it got ALOT BETTER With the new lmas but its still loud....

the motor was also documented to have exactly 35,237 miles when shipped from japan and everything looks factory fresh on the top of the head, i've run this engine for right at a yr and its made noise the entire time, just recently gotten better since the lma swap

how loud is it really? can you hear it with the radio on? or only when its off and your trying to listen for a ticking. did you do anything with the rockers or gsr cam before installing them? was the gsr cam used? did you get lma's for a b16+b18 or for an H motor? do you know the part number of the lma's?

LMA = Lost Motion Assembly...little piston or spring that the rocker arm rest on when not in vtec

my b16b did the same after i replaced my lmas with the spring type. one thing's for certain, i was happy not to deal with that when i put a b18a in :)

Re: b16a new lmas still ticking!

Funny this came up, i just refreshed my motor including buying new Honda LMA's and it ticks pretty loud at idle to the point I was concerned, but the more I read about people changing their LMA with the same ticking makes me believe it is perfectly normal. I religiously checked and doubled checked all my measurements and adjustments so it is not a valve adjustment issue, I believe these new LMA are just loud. I broke her in yesterday after taking months to rebuild the motor/trans and I can't honestly remember what it sounded like prior but I think it was actually quieter with the older LMA. I only replaced the LMA because it was time with the miles on the old ones, I didn't replace them because of how loud they were and none of them stuck as old as they were. The b16 were more notorious than the b18 for LMA issues but odd enough to me it sounds like the new ones are louder.

Dizzy, and bad coil or cap. Ticking
could be there
