Default B16 Swap issues... axle too long?

So ive been reading up a lot on the B16 swap in a CRX. We bought a complete but beat CRX with a brand new b16 swap in it. The axles were from hasport and the half shaft is from an 89 Integra XSI (same as the USDM 90-93). The driver side Hasport axle was making a god awful noise in the boot, and had a slight tear, but we figured we would use it just to get the motor running right. We put it in, and it was about 2 inches too long! I know I put the axles on the correct sides, but just in case, we switched them around. The same axle was too long on the passenger side as well. The shorter axle fit perfectly on the passenger side. So we figured the axle must be wrong or broken, even though the last owner used it in this swap. (we got the whole swap from one guy, all installed in an 89hf). This is an 89 SI. So we went to the local auto parts store (napa) and picked up a remans 90-93 driver side axle. It was about an inch or so shorter than the hasport one. We put it in, and it BARELY all bolted down. When you turn the wheel, there was a tight spot when the axle was straight, but it was fine when turned. It seemed like the axle was still too long. We tightened the axle nut down to 120ftlbs with an impact, and it fixed the tightness. But when we went to spin the wheel, it wouldnt budge (and yes, the car was in nuetral). At this point, we didnt know where the half shaft was from. I found out today that it was from an 89 xsi, which is the same as the 90-93 tegs. I was hoping that the half shaft was from something else, since the half shaft has to match the axles to work, and we could just replace the half shaft. But since the axle and half shaft DO match, im completely confused as to why this doesnt work. Hasports website told us to remove the dust sheilds on the hub, which we did. Can anyone figure out why this isnt working for us? It seems like the axle needs to be 1/4" to 1/2" shorter. As for why the wheel wouldnt spin... i have no freakin clue. It would only spin if we lodged a pry bar between the lug nuts and pulled really hard. The other side spins freely. Any ideas?

I had the same problem with my B18 swap, I recieved ABS axles even though the auction specified non-abs.....ERICDOHC on ebay sucks!

I had to remove the inner dust shield on the rotors in order to get them to sit in the hub all the way without catching

Did the 89 XSI come with the B16 in it? If so, its probably a B16 half shaft that ive got on there, and I need one from a B18A, right?

i never heard of the 89 xsi. 89's came with a zc

90-91 Xsi/Rsi JAPAN DA B16A 1595 10.2:1 158hp@7600/112lb S1,A1,J1

92-93 Xsi/Rsi JAPAN DA B16A 1595 10.2:1 158hp@7600/112lb YS1 op.LSD

What ever half shaft you get make sure you use the same axles. im using a gsr half shaft and gsr axles on my hydro tranny. it all depends on the combo you use. When i had a cable tranny i had a S1 (i had a XSi B16. 1xxxxxx series blocks are from integras the 5xxxxxx series was from a civic) i used US 89 Integra axles.

You need the non abs 91 teg axles. Take the dust ring off before putting them through the hub.

I figured it out. I assumed since the 89 XSI was the same body style as the USDM 90-93 tegs, that it also came with a B18A. But I was wrong, it came stock with the B16, so the half shaft was from a B16 while the axles were from a B18A. We need to find a B18A half shaft.

I dont know about you, but the halfshaft I used on my B16 also works on my usdm 94 B18B with 91 teg axles. The halfshaft I am using is female (open for the axle).

it doesnt matter,,,,90-93 integra halfshaft is a 90-93 integra halfshaft weather its the b17a1,b16a,or b18a......The one that you have to watch out for is the sir1 b16a halfshaft from the EF's...cause you'll need a custom made axle for the driver side or order one from japan....it sounds like you have that halfshaft though so just get a 90 integra halfshaft from a junkyard..

it will work on our cars ...but in one case with a swap the 94+ halfshaft didnt bolt to the b16 engine block....but if it bolts to block it will work fine.
