axle question
alright...swapped my axles with a new set from autozone. i replaced them with 90 DA axles. i now have vibration at low rpms and when accelerating. Talked to a friend that works there and he said that another friend of ours apparently has the same problem. then he brought something to my attention that i had noticed on my old axles. My old axles had like a round rubber balancer, or what ever you want to call it, on them and these new ones don't. could this be the cause?

Re: axle question
Buying autozone axles are pretty much a 50/50 chance of getting a good axle. Just don't by the remanufactured ones they sale. The remanufacture ones seem to go bad. Get the brand new axle because it comes with a lifetime warranty. I to noticed the OEM axles that come with the rubber balancer. I have not had any issues using axles that don't have the rubber balancer.

Re: axle question
I just wasted half a day installing brand new autozone axles on my 97 accord and had the same vibration you described. The axles on my accord that I am trying to replace are aftermarket but have no vibration problem. Now I am not sure what brand of axles to get. I plan to give napa and carquest a try. Were you able to find a good replacement axle without the vibration?

Re: axle question
I got the a remanufactured CarQuest axle and have no vibration at all. It came with a limited life time warranty and cost only $60 + tax. Stay away from new axles that are manufactured in China. The 2 sets of axles I got from Autozone caused vibration and are not to OE standard. I usually have good luck with Autozone and had never had any problem until these axles though.

Re: axle question
It may well be a bad batch but I hate wasting time to reinstall axles over and over. My experience with autzone axles reflect poor quality control of their products. I'd rather get a good axle the first time even if I pay a little more to avoid the headaches and frustration of bad axles.

Re: axle question
I've gotten axles from Autozone before.... never had any issues.
I think it's just random. Go with Napa axles, they are a little bit more but they do have better quality control

Re: axle question
Kamu & Charlie: Were the axles "NEW" or remanufactured? I think the "NEW" axles built in China might lack quality control. The autozone I went to didn't have remanufactured axles, only the NEW ones.

Re: axle question
I had the same issue you had. Try a remanufactured axle to see if that will fix your vibration issue. The remanufactured axle I end up getting looks identical to the current axle and solve the vibration problem.
