Automatic Seat Belts

Automatic Seat Belts
So, my passenger side seatbelt won't retract from the open position in my 1991 Civic EE2 SH5 Wagovan/Shuttle. We already figured out that the main 10 amp fuse in the under-hood fuse box isn't the problem, but instead the motor for the seatbelt itself. What part(s) do I need, and how do I replace it/them?

Re: Automatic Seat Belts
I had the same problem a few years ago on my EF Sedan... I too thought it was the motor. After destroying 2 (pricey) seat belt mechanisms, It turned out to be the computer. It's in a mystery box on hump the between the gas pedal passengers left foot, behind the radio console. A 10-min plug&play swap. I'd check that out first. Its a lot cheaper at the "u-pull" than a new belt mechanism.

Re: Automatic Seat Belts
I have a similar issue.
I have a 1990 Civic Sedan LX and "sometimes" the passenger seatbelt doesn't go back into it's spot, causing the seat belt light to stay on, and the alarm/buzzer going off.
I'm not sure if it's a failing motor or the computer that controls it?
Does anyone have part numbers for those items?
Or does anyone know why it works "sometimes"?

Re: Automatic Seat Belts
I took it to the local dealer here in Ann Arbor, but didn't leave it with them
An old guy told me it's always the door latch that does it, but how much wiring does the actual door latch have?

Re: Automatic Seat Belts
Mine had problems in the control box, remove box and open it up look for leaky capacitor (there should be only one of the electrolytic type that can leak in there) or bad solder joints. Like the other guy said it is an unmarked box mounted under the dash on the hump in the center of the car right at the firewall.
Pretty sure the door switch is tied to the circuit that turns the dome light on and off. Does the dome light go on and off when you open and close the passenger door?
