i have always tinkered with cars, woodworking, etc, thinking about mechanical engineering as a direction for schooling. if you are a mechanical engineer, where did you go to school?

my buddy red civic standard started at college to be a mechanical engineer. He went to the University of Michigan. Purdue is also a good school for engineering.

One of my friends is a mechanical engineer. He went to Western Michigan on a student exchange program (he's from Malaysia). And another one of my friends just started the engineering program at University of Illinois (one of the best engineering programs in the country). He says he's never worked harder in his life, but he's doing some really cool stuff.

probably do both and have a design engineer degree

cool. thanks. i just looked at michigan technical university on the web, my great uncle went there for automotive mechanical engineering. that place is $$$. about $25000 a year. i live in illinois, and have heard about the program at u of i. i suppose it is the champaign/ urbana campus?

make sure the school is ABET accredited or else you won't be able to become a "professional engineer"
