Re: 91 DPFI sputtering issue.
Replace IACV, solder main relay.

No but really I'm glad we're on to something here. I'm sure this is getting old by now. You may want to check on your idle screw. The o-ring went bad on mine so it kept backing out and gave me a huge idle hunting problem.

Not so sure that pin needs solder. I'd have to check my known good main relay against the pic, but it doesn't look like there is a pad there for the pin to be soldered to in your picture...it looks like the copper stops before the hole, and there is solder mask all the way up to the hole.

Re: 91 DPFI sputtering issue.
Good thing, it’s not doing it suuuuper bad in first and second like it was on the drive to work, but it’s still doing it.
Actually, on the old relay (that’s also straight up missing a pin), the car started sputtering badly after I had driven for a bit with the heat on.
New relay it’s just occasionally accelerating in third between 2-3k.

Re: 91 DPFI sputtering issue.
Alright and we’re back at it again with the issues.
Since last time, I’ve replaced all the small vacuum lines and I’ve gone back to the old ECU, I replaced a coolant hose that was seeping coolant, fully bled my coolant again, replaced the fan relay, sanded down the areas for the engine grounds to bare metal, and adjusted the idle and did an idle reset on the car.
Now once it warms up it idles solidly around 850ish, with the cold idle being around 1100. No CEL still, although on a long drive last night I got a temporary code 1 and code 14. Shut the car off for literally a minute, turned it back on and the CEL went off and has stayed off. (Although the ECU flashes are still there, stored in the memory perhaps?)
We had some awful awful awful sputtering and bogging (also the radio wouldn’t come on and last time that happened was because the alternator **** the bed)
I ran the fuel pressure tester today again and got 20psi cycling the key on and off and 27 psi with the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line unplugged at idle. So, seems the fuel pump isn’t putting out enough pressure. Luckily, they’re cheap at work, so that’s going to be today’s project

Sweet. I hate tracking down intermittent problems but it looks like you nailed it. Fuel pumps are a PITA to replace on these cars. I'm glad that was the end fix, though. I still need to get my crap together and check my fuel pressure lol.

Re: 91 DPFI sputtering issue.
Go to the auto parts store I work at! Actually, my store won’t charge for rental tools if you use them in the parking lot. I don’t know if that applies to all of them, but mine does.
