Re: 90 CRX_B18C1 GS-R swap in progress
Well, I'm gonna start wiring this weekend. I pulled all the loom off the CRX wiring harness so I can route the wires to where they need to go a little easier. So, here's a before pic. After pic soon to come.
So, I have a ZERG obd0-obd1 conversion harness. Those have some wires already stubbed out for the sensors you're supposed to wire in. I'm pretty sure the only one I'll be using is the one for the vtec solenoid. What should I do with the others? Just leave em the way they are(just stubbed out)? Or should I cap em off with nuts or something?
Also, have I heard right that you can bypass the vtec oil pressure switch? Just connect the A4 pin on the ecu to D6? The GS-R engine has no vtec oil pressure switch sensor.
Thanks guys

Re: 90 CRX_B18C1 GS-R swap in progress
Thanks for the props guys. And yeah this is my first Honda. But I pretty much had what I wanted to do in mind. I contimplated turboing the Y7 that was in there, but that wasn't innovative enough for me. So I opted for the GS-R. It was a good choice IMO.
Yes I am using Hasport. I got the mounts, shift linkage, and hydro conversion at the same time. I also needed the rear motor mount bracket(wasn't on the engine when I got it). So I got one of those from Hasport as well.
Yup, I'll let you know how it all works.
Start up this next weekend hpefully.
Updates to come soon.

Would the CRX UKDM gauge cluster hook up to my 90 rex without any mod to the wiring? I'm guessing it just plugs right up. I've been lookin at the GS-R and TypeR clusters too. But the UKDM cluster just looks so much cleaner and I like that it looks stock.

Re: 90 CRX_B18C1 GS-R swap in progress
Thanks for the props guys. I will have videos of it when I'm done. I'm gonna warn you though. It doesn't look too pretty. The car isn't painted yet. But you will be able to see the GS-R engine rippin. I'm really close to startup. My problem is finding time to work on it. I work 6 days a week and till 7 usually. But, soon!

I like your whole swap except one thing....the intake manifold. Those things are such a mess. I would recommend upgrading it. The sensors will then remain in about the same position as your original setup except the water temp which would now be in the thermostate housing.
Good luck!

I know GSR manifolds aren't popular due to the space they take up, but I really love mine, plus it has a unique sound when the secondary butterflies open. I would keep the stock intake as long as you can get it to clear the fuel line, and get the secondary butterflies wired up. The secondary runners retain the bit of mid range power GSR's have to start with, compared to a skunk 2/Type R manifolds focus on high rpm range, but the difference aren't too drastic so take your pick.
