2G DSM Fuel Pump Install in a 1989 EF Hatch *PICS*
 

It actually went right in.. It was a pretty easy install. Took us about an hour to do it. Just had to re-wire couple wires but other than that it was a pretty easy install..

Any special fabrication? Used stock strainer? What LPH does it flow?

I think the 2G Fuel pump has a LPH 190 or around there. Its just preperation for me before I get my Fuel Rail and Injectors installed along with the Regulator and getting my Vafc installed. So many parts so little money.. Then Comes the Cams.. That will be a fun time after that..

But really no major fabrication was made to it. Just had to re-do the wiring and change the connectors. I just have to keep an eye on the gas.. It seems to want to be empty alot sooner now. But other than that it was a pretty painless install.

how hard was it to drop the gas tank???

W3rd.. That was the worse part was when we thought it was almost out of gas the SOB leaked all over. It was pouring out of the Return line like a champ and out of the top.. Kinda cool that it came with a Drain Plug though on the bottom of the gas tank. But really we were able to drop the tank in about 10 minutes.

what does the stock fuel pump flow at?

any noticable gains, better response, etc?

I am not sure on what the stock Civics flow at.. I am thinking in the 150-160 range. And no noticable gains. I really won't notice it till I complete all the rest of the parts I have, to put on and Get some Dyno time in.. Mostly it was the fact my Honda had 150K on the body and stock Fuel Pump with a Swap.. SO I got the DSM free and some friends got together and had a Fuel Pump Swapping party.. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

But I was really just preparing for future upgrades so it will come in Handy.

Thanks.. I just think it will come in Handy when I really get into Modding the motor. Plus it only had 35K miles on it. But knowing it came out of a DSM it will probally make me have Vtec Creep https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

A fuel pump upgrade will not produce noticeable gains unles the stock pump was falling short. As for DSM pumps, a 1G DSM pump would be a better choice than a 2G DSM pump since it has the same case as the stock CRX pump.

what's the flow for the 1st gen dsm?
b/c i don't wanna risk getting stranded w.the fuel pump going out on me.
200k car probably (lost track w/cluster swaps) and swap also.

yeah it didn't take long...just look at that impact wrench and air rachet sittin there too...bah, use some elbow grease! if elbow grease fails start kicking and hollerin till it comes loose or your arm pops out of socket...(personal experience)
