2 way valve on fuel tank needed??
I pulled the tank out to clean since its giving me problems due to rust inside, and as i removed the 2 way valve, i broke off the tip that holds the hose.
Is this really needed or can I just run a straight hose through?
This is what i broke
Thanks
Another thing, Im thinking of cleaning the gas tank with muriatic acid. anyone done this before. if not how have you guys cleaned your tanks?
Also was thinking of buying a gas tank sealer for after i clean it out.

Well you'll have to just keep the nipple to the tank open so that the tank can vent. If not, you'll lose pressure as the engine uses up fuel and the air inside the tank creates a vacuum. And you want to vent the air when the tank heats up and doesn't get too high of pressure it starts to break seals.
Short story, don't plug the nipple that the valve used to go into.

Sorry, I misread your post and the pictures didn't load on my phone for some reason.
You can just order a new two-way valve for $34 plus shipping...

It's for venting vapors from the gas tank to the charcoal canister. You really shouldn't bypass it as it may cause your canister to start filling/leaking fuel due to the nature of the system. When they fail this is usually the symptom. The only thing you could do would be cap it or run a line much higher than the fuel tank to vent off fuel vapors. Neither of these are recommended as venting fuel vapors directly is illegal/unsafe & if you build up too much pressure/vacuum in the tank it could cause other problems. The best case scenario - a ton of pressure when you remove the cap; but venting would be preferred either way.

Unless you plan in putting a charcoal canister and purge solenoid back in just vent it to the atmosphere.
If you put the stuff back in: after the purge solenoid - connect it to the port behind the throttle body. (Follow hose #19 in the diagram provided.)

Muriatric Acid tends to rust extremely fast after you are done. There are alternatives like using electrodes, vinegar (takes longer), kerosene (flammable), acetone, ect... Plenty of options all of them have their ups and downs depending on risks, time, and money.
For sealant there are quite a few options as well: Kreem, POR-15, KBS, Red Kote, ect... POR-15 and KBS seem to be the best options. For the time and money are you sure a new tank isn't an option?
$140 plus tax (15% off sale right now too)...

(Just one option, I am sure more parts stores have them.)
If you are dead set on cleaning and sealing it I have used BB's, nuts, bolts, ect in the tank with various cleaners and shook it around to get the bigger chunks out. Then got "The Works" cleaner and shook it around in there for a while. Rinse with water extremely well and lightly mist with WD-40 or Fogging Oil if it's not going to be installed right away/to prevent "flash rusting". To help prevent rusting without a coating it's best to not let the vehicle sit without gas in it/low gas.

Re: 2 way valve on fuel tank needed??
Sorry to bring back an old post, Would I still connect the vent line in the engine bay to the throttle body even if I'm boosted? or just vent to atmosphere near the fill neck. Also in not running the canister.
