Oh I didn't see that list in your post. Thanks, although I'd still be clueless as to how to do this. Is there any diagram or anything that would help me out? I found a post on this forum from 2006 with a diagram but the link went nowhere.

Interesting thread...

Here are some dumb suggestions to get you to spend more $$$

- Replace the fuse box.

- Check all other fuses and wiring for shorts.

I have had to replace the under dash fuse box before.

gotta agree with vem on this one as my car went through a similar hellish scenario ....checking grounds is easy remove them and clean the cable ends and there mounting points check for broken wires then reinstall... voila ... you're grounded

You can also test the grounds with a volt meter...one lead on the ground wire and the other lead on the metal it is grounded to. If it reads 0 mV, you have a good connection. If it jumps around, or reads 50, 100, or more mV, you do not have a good electrical connection. You can also test it from the ground point back to the negative side of the battery the same way.

The under the hood fuse box goes bad also sometimes causing a random shut down. Usually tapping on it will get it to come back/go out. If so replace it.

Does anyone know what the root problem ended up being? I'm having the same problem and would like to know if it's as simple as a bad ground before I start throwing parts at it.
