1990 crx w/b16a won't start
car is 1990 hf crx with b16a swap. was running fine for my bro. died on him while driving. he had a friend check it out. relay good, fuel pump bad. new fuel pump, dizzy cap, wires and plugs. it will crank but won't start. will a small fuel leak keep it from starting?
any suggestions welcome

yes i replaced the pump with new one. the old pump wasn't priming, and it was the original pump. put in the new one and pump is priming. loosened fuel line from fuel filter to motor, and it sprayed fuel, so i think I'm getting fuel. would it still crank, if had no spark?

Spark and cranking have nothing to do with each other.
A small fuel leak would not stop it from starting.
Check for spark before you get too ahead of yourself.

Re: 1990 crx w/b16a won't start
Use the search button in the upper right hand corner... it IS your friend.
1.) Pick a spark plug wire of your choosing.
2.) Remove ONLY the end that goes into the motor.
3.) Put a spark plug in the wire after you took it off the motor. (If you have no spare spark plug take one out of the motor.) ((It is a 5/8 Socket.))
4.) Lay the threads of the spark plug on metal to ground it out.
5.) (A friend helps here.) Crank the car over and watch for spark.
6.) Pat yourself on the back because you just checked your own spark!!!

Do you hear the fuel pump priming when you click the key to the ON position? You should hear a humming noise. The pump may not be getting power. It could be faulty wiring. Also, check the fuses. Maybe a fuse blew for the pump. That might be able to fix your issues.

check the plugs that go to the ecu. Idk if the crx hf came dual point or not...if so maybe a wire thats for an injector popped out of place when your bro did the multipoint conversion on it. Other than spark, fuel and ecu...idk what else to tell you

Re: 1990 crx w/b16a won't start
Its getting fuel just not spark. the hf and the Si had multipoint, the dx came with dual point. someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm going in the morning to see if my dizzy is getting power before i go spend money that i may not have to on a new dizzy. will post how it goes. will look at my ecu and check out plugs and what not just for the hell of it. thanks guys
