Re: 1989 Civic Si SEAT RESTORE project
Details will come when I make more progress. Not many in the states came with all of those options but if you must know, yes I do have the audio console, armrest, and rear speakers. None of which came with the car though. I also have a leather wrapped steering wheel and a few other minor goodies but that's it for now.
Not thread-jacking, but here's the Si interior in my DX (Plus the teg console)
Same seats eh? My driver side cover has two tears, and the foam is failing slowly....
The 90 Si my father bought is basically an Si with all the Si-ness of it removed sadly...
Also, have you ever seen this link for seat restore?
http://www.scribd.com/full/27871052?...2zv69bwhjcyq9v
it's from this thread: https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...eat+repair+crx
But I guess it doesn't help that you're done repairing now anyways...

It's likely Vinyl stock seats or Integra leather. As Deetz pointed out, the Civic's never came with leather seats in North America, or to my knowlegde the rest of the world for these years.

Very clean car but I still don't understand why you keep saying it's a one year only car. Isn't every model year is a one year only car..? I mean it's not like you can have a 1970 '69 Camaro or something.
Not trying to nitpick but you keep saying this in all of your threads for some reason.
Anyway, again, very clean car. Are you not going to keep all this stuff in one build thread? You have like 4 threads going on :p

Re: 1989 Civic Si SEAT RESTORE project
The fourth generation civic was a split into two styles, 88-89/90-91. In 1989 they launched the Civic Si for this generation. In 1990 they gave the entire car a facelift changing bumpers, moldings, lights, seats, interior, ect.
That means that the 1989 Civic Si is a one year only for both styling, and looks. This can also be related to the 1997 usdm ITR. Although the Si had more differences between the year split it is still a limited production style.

also its the only civic si without the gay *** seat belts. 67 bugs are also a one year only car. its a common term.

to OP:
Btw that foam that you replaced isn't really that bad. I could repair that in minutes I completely restored my clapped out 88' Dx seats in a day and it only cost be $200. Man I should start buying Si seats and restoring them and selling them for 500 a piece lol

Re: 1989 Civic Si SEAT RESTORE project
Nice job on the seats, and also nice find on a clean 89, very nice.
Since you seem to know a bit about seats, I was wondering if you know whether the si seats in the 90-91 are side specific? I have a 90 si and my seats are pretty clean, not perfect, but no tears. But I noticed that the wear marks on the bolsters are all wrong. The most wear is on the left bottom bolster on the passenger seat, as if the person before me may have switched the driver and passenger seats. Would you be able to feel the difference from sitting in them if they were switched? Cause it doesn't feel quite right sitting in the drivers seat, I can't pinpoint what it is, it just doesn't feel right.
Btw, your red si was pretty nice, I remember seeing it a few times in person.

Re: 1989 Civic Si SEAT RESTORE project
when you do a pan swap between 88-89 and 90-91 the sides switch. In 90-91 they swapped the location of the recliner. Even though they used the same foam part numbers they use the RH foam for the drivers side LH.
Aside from that I have heard of people swapping driver and passenger fabrics and maybe foams with some modification.

For whatever reason, I've never been able to really see the difference between 88-89 and 90-91 seat rails or even recliner levers. Was it to do with the auto seatbelts? If so, that's probably why I've never noticed... I've never seen auto seatbelts on a car here.

As far as anti-vacuum, these pictures are from just after I purchased the car and the snow had just melted. I don't drive the car in the snow or rain so it had been sitting for a while. The car is much cleaner now.
