Default Putting a 2wd trans in a 4wd CRV

I have an 05 Crv 4wd realtime. The trans is blown and i can't find a replacement that's worth a damn. But i can find 2wd's all day long, so as an idea, can i put a 2wd crv trans into my crv as long as i swaped the TCM also? Or will i be ok without the TCM swap?
And can some tell me were the TCM is? my "clitons manuel" says its on the transmission but google picks says its built into the PCM.

TCM is part of the PCM.

PCM doesn't know if it is 2wd or awd. AWD system is purely mechanical.

I would have thought that it would screw with the Realtime traction control. But if it is mechanical, that simplifies everything.

Realtime system has ZERO electrical components in this application. ABS, VSA, PCM all could care less.

I know the 4wd transmissions i could only use 05 and 06 crv trans. Does that also apply to the 2wds or am i good to use 02-06 trans?

Only 05-06 5 speed vs 4 speed.

I just finished the 2wd swap and it is working out great. Everything bolted right up, the only differences I found were the rear mount, shift linkage and linkage dust cover. My CRV is now on the road again and I thank you for the help.

What year CRV did you get the new transmission from? And this was automatic or standard?

I dont know the exact year, just that it is a 05 or 06. I got the transmission from JDM New York on ebay. I have been pleased with it so far, it was surprising an easy swap.

how did you get everything to bolt up? did you have to buy the extra parts that you needed? currently doing a 4wd to 2wd swap...

Everything bolted right up and all of the electrical connectors are the same. The only thing that is different is the shift linkage is too short and the rear mount bracket is different. The shift linkage, you can metal from the driveshaft safety loop to make an extension or buy a 2wd shifter. The mount, i went on ebay and bought a 2wd mount bracket. That is the one that bolts to the transmission, not the mount bushing that bolts

to the subframe.
