P0336 Crank position sensor woes, help
Long story short, i've just recovered from a misfire on my wife's 1999 CRV by replacing the ECU. I also replaced distributor, wires and plugs while troubleshooting. All fixed up and back on the road when i get crank position sensor code p0336. I then replaced the crank sensor, connector and tried yet another ecu to try to eliminate to no avail. Not sure how to proceed if everything is brand new? The car drives fine with a check engine light until trying to go slowly up an incline. It shudders at a low rpm until the road levels off then carries on as normal. What should my next move be? Any help is appreciated.

If you jack up the front of the car up on jackstands, does the problem show up the same way?

No error on the stands. A little torque on a hill trips the light. It goes up hills fine if i am at speed. From a start or at slow speed it struggles. Otherwise drives like it should.

Re: P0336 Crank position sensor woes, help
Have you checked to see if the timing belt jumped a tooth, probably not on the crank, but on a cam gear?
Maybe the CPS is actually telling you something is wrong? That could explain down on power under load? |

Thank you, timing is spot on.
I put the old distributor back on and problem solved. Something to do with the cam timing in the distributor communicating with the crank sensor? Beware of cheap Amazon distributors. |
