No power to radio/OBD II, pwr door locks, key fob, more
Had battery changed at dealer today along with passenger side pwr window regulator. Noticed radio had no power on the way home. Noticed no power to radio/OBD II, pwr door locks, key fob, more, when I got home.
Start of situation: I towed the car into the dealership after car died while driving. Wouldn't crank at all. Checked cables, all looked good. Was able to jump start vehicle and drive a short time (2-3 minutes) before dying again. Thought perhaps alternator failed/battery died. Dealer found battery was not able to hold charge, said alternator was fine. They replaced battery and I asked them to repair Passenger power window since I was there already.
Thoughts before I bring it back to the dealer?

Hello, the BU fuse WAS blown. Blew again immediately when I reattached battery cable after replacing fuse. What's new? Battery, Power window regulator? Hmmmm

hmmm. it also supplies memory for clock and ecu, IIRC.
what you'll need to do is start disconnecting components until the fuse ceases to blow.
is it an aftermarket stereo? if so, i'd start there. disconnect it, then install the fuse. if it doesn't blow, check the wiring. if it does, disconnect the ecu and install fuse..etc..
this will help you narrow down the trouble circuit

Thank you, El Crapitan. Started with aftermarket radio. Fuse did NOT blow after radio was disconnected. Very expensive radio/dvd/nav/telephone bluetooth gitup. Time to check the wiring for radio and radio itself, I guess. Everything else works again. Hope radio wasn't destroyed. Gulp.

Re: No power to radio/OBD II, pwr door locks, key fob, more
Brought car with fancy radio to where I had bought/installed it. Radio had a short in one of the external components: xm radio. Replaced just that component, hooked up the power through the normal fuse ("Backup", under the hood) and all works well now. Radio installer says he's seen it before. Thinks that the poles were improperly connected on the battery for just a moment when the battery was replaced. I don't know but I'm happy all is working again. Thanks for all the help. Paul

Registered to tell you that this thread helped out immensely. My BU (Back Up) fuse was blown too. I have a 2005 CRV and it was a 15 A fuse. Replaced it with my spare and we were good to go.
Power door locks and the radio was not functioning. It was caused by my faulty installation of an after market radio.
Cheers, fellas!

I also just registered to thank you el crapitan for the terrific diagnostics. A widow friend of mine just got her 07 CRV back from a $1600 repair shop which included a new starter. Radio, key fob, OBD sensor all dead. They must have reversed polarity somehow. Changed the BU fuse and we are good to go. Thanks again!

2008 honda crv EX no radio locks PCM working. Just installed a stereo. Had this issue happen. I think I might have hooked up power wire before the ground or negative wire. I went hand-over-hand and checked my work and fixed any connections.
The solution for me was the aforementioned 10A backup fuse under the hood. Replaced it with a handy spare 10A fuse supplied in the under dash fuse box on drivers side.
Next time I will disconnect the battery to install new electrical component. Thanks!!!!
