HELP!! Trying to center rear wheel after 2.5 Rear lift
Good morning. I picked up a 1999 CR-V for my son and lifted it to be unique.
Front end was rebuilt with inner/outer tie rods, and new struts (stock springs) with a 1.5" lift. I'm installing adjustable upper control arms today, but it doesn't look that far off in alignment.
BUT, the rear has new trailing arm bushings, shocks (stock springs) with 2.5" spacers, and it's pulling the wheel to almost touching the front leading corner of the wheel well.
I purchased adjustable upper arms and installed them, but it looks like the whole assembly needs to be drawn backward about 2".
OH, and the tires are 225/75/16 tires, and wheels from a Grand Cherokee LTD.
I've googled and searched and most all say that either just left it that way or "got it fixed" without saying EXACTLY what they did to get it straightened out.
It (the rear suspension as a whole) doesn't look like it's going to have enough adjustment to bring back to 'stock' fitment in the wheel well.
Also, from laying down under it, it doesn't look like the "toe arms" would need to be a LOT longer to draw the assembly backward..
I'll try and get the pics from my phone later or if you want to see them NOW, you can go to the last page of "Ways to lift your 1st gen" and look at the last pic.
Let's see if I can do this without messing up.. Here goes.

Need to get this done this week if you guys don't mind.. Alignment shop WILL NOT 'work' on anything as in installing parts as part of an "ALIGNMENT".
If they do have to install NEW PARTS, it would be 100.00+/hr labor.
If any of you guys have pics from a build or you're attempting it now. Please post up.
Thanks E

Re: HELP!! Trying to center rear wheel after 2.5 Rear lift
Never worked on a first gen but your wheel/tire combo seems pretty big. If this was my car I’d put the stock rims back on for the time being and look for a smaller tire size. Otherwise you’re lookin at some custom suspension work there. I’ve seen some YT videos of people running 30+ inch tires but they only mention shaving or cutting the fenders down.
Maybe your rear spacers are too tall. I’ve followed the user “Rat Life” on YouTube who is building a first gen CRV with giant tires. He’s commented that he’s using 2” rear spacers. He’s also cut fenders. Where did you purchase your rear spacers at? Did you make them yourself? If so - they might be too tall.

Re: HELP!! Trying to center rear wheel after 2.5 Rear lift
It's ONLY a 2.5" lift for the rear. 1.5" front (but wheel is centered and doesn't look all that far off, but got upper arms just in case)
AND, Even with the wheels/tires OFF, the lower control arm in the rear is pulled WAY forward. I put the wheels on and lowered the jack/stands, drove around the block to
see if it would change anything, but didn't.
The struts are new gas APX's so they'll probably settle a bit, but doesnt' look that it will be all that much.

Re: HELP!! Trying to center rear wheel after 2.5 Rear lift
I've messaged (through Ebay) from the onset, and NOW he says that he offered a 1" lowering drop for the front and rear, but has discontinued it here lately..
To me, when I have had the toe adjuster, and upper control arm adjuster installed, the lower control arm was nice and even with axle. BUT as soon as I jacked up the lower control arm up toward being able to start the 2- 17mm trailing arm bushing bolts, it starts to pull forward.
I might just make my own brackets to lower those bushings. Even if I have to pop them out and re-install them 90* so the holes are perpendicular to original mounting.

Re: HELP!! Trying to center rear wheel after 2.5 Rear lift
This is how it sits now. (NO alignment done yet) The rear tire is about 1/4" away from the wheel-well plastic
The front is much more centered and am happy with it thus far.

Re: HELP!! Trying to center rear wheel after 2.5 Rear lift
Here's a couple pics of the under side-outward from rear diff. Look closely at the angle of the lower control arm, axle and lower strut bushing.
See how stressed they are?
(the rear tire in this pic is about 2" off the ground just to let you know.)
Also, the rear toe adjuster is all the way up, touching the floor or body.

Re: HELP!! Trying to center rear wheel after 2.5 Rear lift
Funny. That's where I got the Ingalls info from.. they should be here in a day or so from Summit Racing. 2- about $80. And look pretty heavy duty.
ebay "dude" never said ANYTHING ABOUT A 'drop kit' after repeated messaging.
Then I get the ..Well.. I usually don't do this, BUT for YOU I'll sell you the rear drop kit...." "THAT should help you out"
Totat price is $450. ..for 1" tall metal spacers and bolts front and rear.
Hhhmmm. Already gave excellent feedback.
Anywho, I might as well just make my own
I have a different idea on how to space out the trailing arm bushings since that seems to be limiting the whole movement.
I've messaged several sellers on eBay, and they start talking up THEIR products, saying how Heavy Duty they are. But you gotta remember that the stock arms are just flimsy, stamped sheet metal.
I'll try and post more as I go.
Thanks for your help.
