Default Drop-in filter vs. SRI

I have a 2006 CR-V 2.0 with the K&N drop-in filter installed. I am wondering if I change this to a short ram intake, would it make a difference in engine responsiveness? I know the K20 engine on the V is less powerful than its K24 sibling, but I had an SRI installed on my 93 Civic before and I noted better engine response. Its just that its engine was an all motor, non-VTEC affair. Would the i-VTEC engine on my V play a role in giving the desired response with all its computer control?

An intake isn't going to make a big difference either way...the best things for responsiveness are a larger throttle body and reducing the rotating the mass of the engine.

here's the real question:
do you wanna listen to your engine sucking in air or not?
'cause that's pretty much all an SRI is gonna do for you.
IMO, just keep the drop-in and save your money.

Mine is the 5MT variant and the main reason I am searching for ways to improve its responsiveness is that sometimes, the engine seems to hesitate/drag at second gear and it slowly increases RPM until it hits the VTEC crossover point at 2200RPM, then all is well again. I heard that this seems to be inherent in the manual versions in that the i-VTEC system seems to "decide", albeit slowly, what is happening and how it plans to react to it hence the sluggishness. If I change the throttle body of the K-20, I will have to reprogram the ECU as well?
