CR-V AWD LX, when lifted on jack, only 3 wheels spin.

I noticed this last month. While the car was getting it's brake lines bleeded, only 3 wheels were spinning. 1 front, 2 rear. Why is that? As an AWD, all 4 should spin.

Because you don't have a locked differential or limited slip differential, one of the wheels up front will stay stationary until you put some resistance on the one that is spinning. If you were to some how stop the one front wheel that was spinning, the other side would spin.

First of all, Thank you for replying. Second, it makes sense, from what you describe, however why are the 2 rear wheels spinning? 1 front and both rear spin freely, how come? It's the same right side front, and both rear. Earlier when I used to do this test, all 4 used to spin freely.

There's slightly different amounts of resistance up front, when comparing side to side. Its not a ton of difference, but enough to cause one wheel to stay stationary. You could emulate this in the rear as well, since that differential is also open. If you slightly apply resistance to one wheel, it'll completely stop rotation while the other spins.

Thank you, for confirming.
