2003 crv combustion issues
I have a 2003 crv (auto transmission) 220 000 km, it's running rich. I can smell the gas from the exhaust and my bumper has some black soot just over the tail pipe. I've never owned an awd, but cas consumption is just a bit more than my previous 4 cyl sedan.
I love this car, it drives perfectly in winter. But, just as warm spring days come along, it drives horribly. When the engine is warmed up, it sputters while accelerating but once it gets over 2500 rpm everything is fine, vtech engages at 4000 rpm. But it's a pain getting and holding to 2500. During warm spring and summer days, the engine needs to rev much higher to change gears. If the rpm falls below 2500, it feels like it's going into limp mode. The rpm goes down to 0 and then kicks back up to 1500, while my foot is on the accelerator. The garage did a heat test on the cat and said all was fine. I replaced the IMRC last summer, I got the p1077 code and the solenoid tested ok. I also got the P0453 code, mechaninc suggested changing the canisters, so I'm saving up. It does not burn oil, the oem plugs are newer
I'm a single mom and trying to pinpoint my issue, I need your insight. What would cause seasonal issues like I'm experiencing?

Re: 2003 crv combustion issues
could the o2 sensor be bad without throwing a code for it (they were changed at 100k)?
My idle is perfect, no problems starting it. With my foot on the accelerator, I lose all power when going up a moderately steep hill. When I pull over and shut the car down and wait a few seconds and restart it, it's like it resets itself and goes ok for a bit and then struggles again.
I feel, like I have the symptoms of a bad cat (no sulfur scent and red glow), except only during warm weather, it drives like a charm during winter.
