04 Honda CR-V OPDS sensor

The SRS light is on in my 04 Honda CR-V. I've taken it to four shops now, including the dealer, and no one seems able to fix it. The latest auto electronics shop I have it at says the problem is the OPDS sensor and this part is not available from Honda. the sensor is incorporated into the side-impact airbag. I have already tried replacing the entire seat with one from a junkyard, but this did not solve the problem, apparently because its sensor was also bad. The junkyard solution is looking unlikely because the only way to know if the sensor in the seat is good is if the car can be turned on to see if the SRS light comes on. The mechanic suggested trying to find a module repair service. I tried ModuleMasters. They said they don't touch anything with airbags. They suggested I try MyAirbags.com. I have a query in to them.

I've been trying to solve this problem for over a month. Surely this is not a unique issue. I don't want to drive the card with a nonfunctioning airbag system, and I doubt anyone would want to buy it in this condition.

Re: 04 Honda CR-V OPDS sensor

Have you taken it to the dealer after replacing the module from the junkyard? If it is the Occupant Position Detection Sensor - I wonder if it needs to be reinitialized or calibrated. I don't do any SRS work (besides replacing the occasional airbag) but, the manufacturer I work for has a calibration for certain models and repairs related to this. It involves connecting the dealer only tool to the OBD port and placing weights in the seat, then somehow it calibrates based upon that.
