Installed some rock lights under the car that are either activated by a remote controlled relay or by the central locking.
So I don´t have to step into any puddles

Hi Daniel
I'm working on a 2003 CRV and my goal is to make mine look something like your last photo (more stock). If you remember, can you please tell me the setup you had in that pic? Are they General Grabber AT2? IF so, what size? Did you have any issues with clearance with the wheels? I plan to use the stock 15" CRV alloys, no lift and either GG AT2 or BFG KO2. Can't find any other tires I like in similar sizes (215/75/15).

Hey mdlk,

The tires in that picture are 225/75/15 General Grabber AT2. I got them used and lasted me about a year. I then couldn't find any used ones locally so ebay it was for the same tire but a 235. On a stock setup suspension and wheels with those tires, they rubbed at 3/4 to full lock either way. I had to trim some of the inner molding on either side of the front inner wheel wells where the tires would rub. In that picture i had an Old Emu spring up front and stock springs in the rear. And going over bumps the rear tires would hit the lips and rub. I would at least get a 1in lift. I actually have 1' lift from Aerogenics after i installed their 2in if your interested.

This picture is with the same setup but 1' block lift from Aerogenics

Thanks Daniel. Really appreciate the info. I've gotta do a little more planning. I've ordered 215/75/15 Grabber AT2s. Hopefully they'll fit ok. Really like the look of yours! What did you do for the rims? Paint?

Good old Plastidip. The 1" lift with block spacers isnt a hard job and would really give it a good look, with the bigger tires. let me know if you're interested in the set I have.

How heavy? Because you gotta be able to lift it and put it on the rack too.

Factory suggests 75-85lb load max.

Yakima and Thule may be able to take more weight, but you gotta be conscious about lots of weight up high on a vehicle because it will increase the rollover possibility during emergency manuevers.

the max weight limit is not for the rack, its for the roof itself.
Just as downforce, the upforce is working as well. Imagine a 80lb stuff placed on the bars (equal each side so 40lb/bar ) as it is premitted. But that is without wind. With wind, it clears the force from the front and puts all preassure to the rear. I saw few cracked roof due to heavy load and high speed on motorway...
You can have an 80lb tent with 2 person + stuff on top, if you are camping cause thats different stress for the roof.

Hey where did you get those yellow oem fog lights? The only one I've found online has a chrome rim around them and I like the blacked out look. Thanks!

I did my lights with yellow vinyl tint from Ebay. I think it was around $7 CAD for a roll. It also protects the lights from stone chips!

ebay

painted them black

yellow tint film from amazon. 6 layers to get my desired look. Switch all lights to LED. The yellows have been great in the winter especially in a snow storm

Has anyone put a lightbar on top of the roof, just above the windshield? How have you mounted it?

When you ran 225/75r15 were you on stock height? There was no rubbing on the front when you had the wheel turned?

Thanks

I guess I should clarify. full lock out on both turns and then if I had a load in the trunk or hit a bump hard enough

215 you shouldn't have an issue. I ran 225 first and had some rubbing but not a lot

Okay ya because 225/75r15 is still bigger then 215/70r16. So hopefully i'll be alright with that size.
