Re: The Civic Type R!
Whelp, I think my wife has decided to get the new SI sedan instead the Type R. That way there's less of a chance of the BS markup and other hassles we dealt with when I was in a lottery system for the original Type R 20 years ago. PLUS, she'll be able to show off both of her CIVIC SIs. 2000 & 2018. Both in Red. IMHO, that's kinda baller to just see that. .

Re: The Civic Type R!
So tempted but not with a $5-10k dealer added AMV. Maybe I'll pick one up used- or maybe I'll go with an ITR which are already appreciating.

They said they will take delivery between 6/30 - 7/4. Also getting it for MSRP plus destination. Pleasantly surprised to find out the MSRP is $34,900. Nice work, Honda.

Well at least our dealership isn't. They are part of Penske Automotive and I'm told that Penske does not allow markups over MSRP. So I would imagine it will all just depend on what each Honda dealer wants to do.

every new "hot" car has a ADM. RS sure wasn't the first and Type R won't be the last

Granted this is EU spec, but wow, lots of technical details released. Reading about the adaptive suspension... very cool

It's common but not in every case.

Yeah, exactly, that's weird for this type R. My friend was actually thinking of getting one lease cause he found himself a good deal on DSRLeasing. Should I stop him?

At the kinds of markups that we are seeing, we have to admit that there are better cars to buy for the money. Some of these CTR are going to end up costing as much as my 430 HP SH-AWD KC2.
At MSRP, the CTR is an awesome car.
If you're trying to make us pay upwards of 60 grand for it, we are buying something else.
And we're not *just* buying something else: We are also going to remember how American Honda's dealership network behaved, and that American Honda did not object to it.
This is the honestly held belief of someone who has always owned Honda and Acura since 1989.
They're not just driving young people away from the CTR. They're driving them to other brands and once they go to BMW or VW, they might stay there.
At MSRP, the CTR is an awesome car.

Honestly. The dealerships are the ones to blame for this, every time.

Re: The Civic Type R!
I have been calling many dealers in MI,IL, and OH with different opinions on selling the CTR. The most interesting I have seen is a martinslive auction for the highest bidder! Other are selling for 10000 and 15000 above MRSP. I have owned 2 ITR, still driving one and remember the day to day risk of driving it back when it was new in 2000. Several failed attempted thefts made me leaving it in the garage. I can see the CTR having the same issue we went through and are going through! ( not as much today) This car will be the #1 stolen car before.
I agree with most it's best to wait as most dealers are pricing it much to expense for a civic.
Also anyone else confused why they made the CTR 4 doors instead of a coupe!

Re: The Civic Type R!
Will be a theft target due to engine, just like ITR...
4-door to compete with all the other minivan sport compacts on the market. All about pleasing the masses, not the niches...
Paying markup makes no sense to me, but I'm kinda cheap ! Why pay markup when you can wait a few months and not pay markup ??? Impatience, I suppose...
Honestly have no problem with dealers charging markup (capitalism), but it takes a willing buyer to get that markup !

4-door, quiet, comfortable --> not usually associated with high performance 'driver cars'
Honda has taken Type R to a new level of market appeal by combining track worthiness with civility
They will sell a boat-load of these if folks can ignore that it's ugly !
They might even keep the faithful that will modify the car to be more uncivilized...
