ZEX cam install, now car barely moves HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok i bought a zex 53900 street/strip cam off another h-t member and installed it this morning. I have the cam gear set @ +1, dist. timing is at stock, i also did a valve adjustment and adjusted intake valves to .008 and exhaust to .010. Now when i step on it the car feels liek it has no power and it just bogs and feels like it doesn make any power at all afetr 6200 rpms, it doesnt even really feel like vtec is kicking in. At first i was thinking mayeb he sent me a cam for a different motor but the cam looked basically jjust like teh stock cam except it had 53900 etched in it. What do you guys think could be wrong? Also does teh zex cam make your motor alot louder? when im @ WOT it seems quite a bbit louder, and a different tone, almost like maybe theres some knock going on but i dont think there is because teh valve adjustment was perfect, HELPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well i think its something to do with timing because it also kinda sputters when it idles, like maybe the tdc marks werent lined up perfectly

sounds like your timing is 180 degrees off. It's hard to (mechanically) install a camshaft incorrectly, so I'm pretty sure your timing belt slipped and your timing got fucked WAAAAY up. Check it and I'll bet that's the problem.

I agree with the timing idea, sounds like you're 180 out. Regarding the sound, the new cam should make your car somewhat louder on the top, but if you're hearing "knocking" sound, I suggest your stay off the throttle until you figure everything out.

What engine did you install that cam into? I had one of those installed in my D16Y8 and wondered why I had no lowend only to find out that the cam is cut for the D16Z6 and therefore must be advanced 5 degrees to be at a relative TDC for the D16Y8. Just a thought you might want to take into account.
