Default Zenki Lug Nuts

I am about to put on my Zenki lugs on my Rota Circuit 8's. I had the kyogen crap ones a few months ago and they stripped on there. Does anyone know what I should torque the Zenkis to with my torque wrench. I herd 80 ft/lbs a while back max.

What I have done on every car is tightened them up a little more than hand tight and then lowered the vehicle down so that it was not being supported by anything but it's own weight.

Then tighten them untill it starts getting hard totighten much more and leave it at that, basically just feel it.

I hand tighten my Zenki Lugs while the car is raised on jackstands, and then I torque them to 80 ft/lbs with a TQ Wrench when the car is back on the ground.

Could I reach 80 ft/lbs by hand? And with the torque wrench 80 should be ok? Not to tight?

You cant reach it with your finger if thats what you are asking. But it's not like you are going to need air tools for 80 ft/lbs.

Just get them tight when weight is on the vehicle and you will be fine, do not over tighten them

most shops just hammer the crap out of it ith the air gun so pretty much its around 500 ft lbs, myself i hand tighten without a torque wrench but i give it hard because even my hardest is no where near what an air gun is capable of

get a torque wrench and save yourself some heartache and trouble, also torque wrenches are reasonably priced nowadays, if all fails go to harborfreight.com and get one from them.

Yea I just got a torque wrench a few months ago, and just put on my wheels for the summer. I just wanted to make sure I was tighting them enough but not to much. Drilling out the kyogensumthins was the biggest pain and scratched up a few wheels.

On the Zenki's is 80 ft/lbs what I should have them torqued to or is that the max? Also does anyone use the short Zenkis on rota c'8s?

Yes I had them on my C8's with no prob, I usually step torque them, 35 ft.lbs. when the are still in the air, and then 80 ft.lbs. when they are on the ground, and then re torque after 100 miles.

Sounds good. Ill do that. Have you ever had a problem with them being hard to get off or strip? I will be taking them on and off alot for autocross. Do you run into problems when you move them on off a lot?

Hmm....I usually just crank as hard as I can with the wrench. Never thought of using a torque wrench because I don't carry one in my car incase I get a flat.

Its a good idea to torque all the bolts evenly or else the chance of warping rotors is greater. And yes, torque to 80 ft-lbs

when I tighten down my zenki's I use a breaker bar and just tighten them by feel, im not sure if its 80 ft/lbs, but it keeps the lugs tight.

Same here, but I think it was the key in the 4 way wrench I was using.

If you don't have a torque wrench, you can just hand tighten them pretty tight and it should be fine. Remember to push, not pull, or else you might hurt yourself. I had a friend who used to hop on his lug wrench to tighten his lug nuts and I think that was a lil' over-doing it. If I can reach 80lbs by hand using a torque wrench, then it's definately not neccessary to step on the lug wrench.
