Zenkei lug nuts after 1 month...

Just thought I would share what happens to zenkeis colored lug nuts. The black actually wore off within weeks. It actually turned out good since they turned to a bronze and my rims were bronze circuit 8's.

Can someone tell me why people buy "performance" lug nuts? OEM honda ones are fine, and someone tell me who in their right mind would spend over a HUNDRED dollars on lugs when I got the tuner ones for my aluminum 16s (21lbs a piece wheels) for 25$ including the wrench adapter. If you got long threads, there are generic ones. Are there any "performance" gains? do you get 20hp more with super lug nuts? does it make Ultra sure the rotor doesnt warp? Someone, gimme some real proof why they aint usin basic chrome ones that look good. My short shifter was 13$, short ram was 31$, front brake pads were AEM 50$. so why more than all that for nuts? regular steel ones are like 10$.

Chrome on bronze doesnt look good to me, so thats why I went with these.

Cause some people have an insane amount of money to spend. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif My Zenki Lugs did the same thing but I think its look better now.

spending 300$ on a AEM intake pipe. Best product, but excessive unless your a 10 second drag racer. but 100$ on nuts, thats overkill, and WAY past cost effective. Thats like spending 1000$ on a naturally aspirated car's intake manifold, all for a couple unnoticable HP. goin from a y7 to y8IM costed me 100$, WITH a SRI, and that was worth it I think, this included all new bolts, parts, and gaskets tho.
All in all, yea, get Honda lug nuts, there chrome, there nice, and cheap and better than any performance one, cept those super 100$ ones.

that's because some wheels require a different "pitch" to the lug. you can damage your wheel Stud and even other stuff if it's wrong. spending the good money on lugs can be a good thing, i had the SHITTY Kyokugen lugs and they stripped and were a BITCH to get off. but it was the correct pitch for the wheel. i'm not saying that you have to buy the super expensive ones, but using stock lug nuts on some aftermarket wheels can damage teh wheel stud, rim or even the body if it breaks away.

you have to run tapered lug seats with most aftermarket wheels...thats why people get different lug nuts

stock lugs are sometimes too big to fit in the holes of aftermarket wheels as well.

You've just experienced the beauty of living in a free society with the ability to make decisions for yourself https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif Seriously though, you make some good points about the cost of parts and their value. The thing is, "value" to each of us often varies quite a bit depending on our personal tastes and incomes. So the bottom line is..what's worth it to you may not be worth it to someone else or vice versa...
