Default zc vtec exactly the same as z6?

I went to a local engine importer, he didn't have z6's put he kept pushing me the zc vtec. I just want to know if there are any differences between the two. Do I have to worry about obd0 or 1 or 2. How about timing belt, during a search some dude put up that it needs a VX t-belt. Also, things like pistons(for when I go to build it), sensors, vtec **** etc.

o2 sensor 1 wire or 4wire, can I run a p28 like I would w/ a z6?

Thanks guys.

The only difference I know of is the Z6 is 1.6L and the VTEC SOHC ZC is 1.5L, don't know if all Z6 parts would work for it but I would venture to say no.

no man you're wrong. The one you're talking about is the d15b. ZC practically means 1.6

I always thought that the JDM ZC doesn’t even have vtec.

Not to jack your thread but I got a JDM 1.6 vtec stamped D16A(no number after A). Was told it is the same as ZC, which is the same as the D16Z6. Anyone know if there is a difference between the three?

I've got a JDM SOHC ZC VTEC motor, fully rebuilt with z6 parts

only thing I've found different was the cam

I've got like 2 threads on this....who didn't use thier search button?

If they were the same, they would both be D16Z6. haha If you have OBD1, of course it would be better to get OBD1, or else you would have to make other minor modifications. Yes, you can run the P28 with the ZC. The ZC is a decent motor, note that there was SOHC VTEC and non-VTEC, then DOHC non-VTEC, all ZC motors.

lol, I did search. Hence, the part about the VX timing belt. But yeah, it's hard finding info, and searching. Can't search for ZC, so I tried d16zc. That was decent. Hey hook me up w/ ur threads.

EDIT I went through your threads. Did you use the p28? How does it run?

I don't know man. I was gonna say it's off the 1g Teg. But you say it has vtec, so that means it's sohc. I don't know what's wrong w/ that bitch. Maybe it's a mini-me.

Not a mini-me. Has anyone actually seen a block with only a D16A stamp. If have read posts one the subject of the mysterious ZC and the consensus seems to say that the sohc version is same as z6 accept for a cam difference. Pioneer, what was the cam difference.

the JDM cam lobes have a little higher lift. The p28 works fine, but the ECU you're supposed to use is the p27.
