Default ZC Swap Need Help!

Ok, just got done swapping in a ZC motor in a DX (EG style not sure what year)
Anyways, it's all hooked up and ready to go, we turn the key and it turns over but won't get going. So we swapped out the distributor, put in new plugs, and different plug wires. Tried it again same thing. So we decided to unhook the exhaust to see if the cat was clogged, didn't solve the problem.

So finally we thought it could be the starter. So we hooked it up to the back of a truck and towed it down the street all the while dropping the clutch. While being pulled the motor would run but the second my brother touched the gas it died out.

Any ideas?

Is the ZC OBD1? And is everything else OBD1?
If its a OBD-0 motor, you are gonna have a big headache.

It's the SOHC ZC, we just found it in the back of the shop so I don't know if it's OBD1 or OBD 0. Everything plugged up fine, isn't it the case if it's a pre OBD the plugs won't plug in right?

pretty much, all I know about the motor is that it's a SOHC ZC that we found in the corner of the shop

Man you guys are some scavenger swappers.
How long would the call run for? 20 minutes just fine until he touches the gas?
Is the timing correct?

haha, it's just a stupid car we are trying to get out of the garage, so we figured if we swapped a motor in it we could sell it away.

We are using the stock DX ecu, because from what I understand the motor doesn't have VTEC.

The car would only run for 30 seconds or so, since we were still pulling it with out truck my brother wanted to see if it would get going.

Check your timing, or if you are getting fuel.

If we can't get the thing running how do we check the timing, that's the only way I know how.

The fumes that exit the header smell nice and rich, so we are guessing it's getting fuel. But still have to check the fuel filter to see if it's clogged. That's the only problem we can think of that we haven't checked concerning fuel.

To see if the timing is correct just match the TDC lines on the crank and the cam gear.

what dizzy are you using?? did u reuse the old DX injectors, dizzy, and harness, and ecu?? if so then it should be converted to OBD1, other than an injector being bad.....

my guess is that u used the injectors that came with the ZC and they are obd0 and need a resistor box to work properly, once u give it gas adn **** they stop and kill the motor.....my guess but thats a wild guess!!

Yeah I was thinking about that cause the SOHC ZC is still OBD-0, it was in the CRX.

If we swap in the DX injectors will we still need to have a resistor box? And we can still use our DX ECU right? We've already swapped Distributors from an OBD1 D-series.
