Default ZC swap into 98 civic...

Was wondering how hard it would be to do the swap? What would I have to change to make it work?

Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks ahead

Not alot of people do it, but i myself have one in my 92 VX hatchback, and it's obd0 too, lol. You rehook up you're harness and use you're stock ecu and motor mounts with driver side motor mount bracket of yo old motor, other then that it's basic like swapping in a D series. You can use you're same transmission too, but a shorter gear one is better like ex/si, like i got, reuse yo axels and what not, pretty basic, tad more basic then ls and not as expensive.

So I wouldn't have to change Dizzy or anything else? Sorry just want to confirm.

My friend tried putting a odb1 into his zc and it sure was a mess, mounts didnt line up, sat crooked, wiring was a mess and it never started.

there's two ZC variants.

the sohc zc is just like our d-series.

the dohc zc is just a nightmare. I have never heard of anyone getting that to run in an obd2 car. And it just wouldn't be worth it UNLESS you got the motor for free / very cheap.

DOHC ZC was replaced by the sohc vtec because it made the same power and was lighter and easier to make

IMO...It's a pointless swap (DOHC ZC D16). The damn motor is 10years older than your car!

Don't pass it up, it only cost a little more then a d16z6, or d15b vtec thats jdm from h motors. Think about it, it's DOHC, of course it's gonna be faster then the d16z6, cause it's still making at least a little bit more power then the all the D series, even the jdm d15b. It does not need vtec to beat you, it just needs to be in ok running condition and a good driver to beat anybody that has a b16 for instance and cannot drive, thats a example. But all in all you know it's not a real lot confusing, but they never did make them in EK, just up until the EG, so only a obd1 zc dizzy is available tops. You could buy the dizzy, new, then buy the conversion for the dizzy, where it plugs up at the distributor you know. You don't need some idiot on here that never done the swap telling you bull ****, i have the swap and i can tell you exactly what it is like.
1. ALL my motor mounts are lined up perfectly fine and sat the EXACT same way the D series that came out of the car!, duh!.
2. If you're friend did a zc swap and never got it to start, thats because he is dumb! and did something wrong, and never got it figured out...
3. My ZC is obd0, NO you do not have to convert...wtF!?, my STOCK VX harness plugs up the same to the motor FINE and nothing had to be extended, wtf is this **** a secret!?.
4. Alls i had to do is change my LEFT motor mount BRACKET, to use my original motor mount for drivers SIDE, i never spent any money!.
5. It's FINE, you can kick my motor and only end up shaking the car, not the motor...thats how tight it's in there.

Yea, Thats my first choice but for some reason I cannot find a Y8..I found a ZC complete swap for 400 with 90K Miles. So thats why I was wondering how hard it is to do.

It's the SAME thing as putting in the d16y8. All you gonna have to do is buy the obd1 dizzy and the conversion adapter for the dizzy at this website. http://www.RyWire.com and you will be set, you can even use yo stock ecu.

As a matter of fact, don't even buy the dizzy adapter, you don't need it. When you go to buy the new distributor just plug it up and it should work fine with the obd2.

The tranny won't work if it's cable, and if it's obd0, it's cable

Nope thats why you put on a hydro, any 92-98 or 99 D series transmission works. I used a 94 ex/si transmission on mine with a new clutch kit stock, perfectly fine. If it's obd0, the plugs are differen't color is all, but they still fit the same and the obd0 zc only has a CPS unlike the 2nd gen ZC, but regardless they the same motor.
